Hey there, Virtue here with a series of threads.
I suggest mental exercises to examine the mental state of Mabination. By closing your eyes and "going someplace," you open your mind to your subconscious which can provide you with powerful imagery.
This exercise will be fairly easy to start with, but I will later post more complex exercises for you all soon if this thread gets 20 posts or more (it gets truly interesting later on), and if you can't do it (especially the advanced techniques), don't worry. It takes an open mind and about 3 months of actually trying to reach a temporary enlightenment.
Here is the exercise for the first day. We have to start with the basics before delving into more difficult exercises.
Go lay down on your bed, clear your mind of all thoughts and:
See where you go when you close your eyes.
Explain everything in detail to me. What did you see? Who did you see? Where were you? I want to read it all.
Subconscious and imagination are the same thing in this case.
Tip: Turn out the lights, I've always found music distracting, since you're not really focusing on -YOUR- thoughts, rather the thoughts of someone else.

All I see is black. Either I took the wrong turn or theres too much stuff going on for me to feel enlightenment. I'm probably just lying to myself all the time to keep myself from not doing anything emo.

Closing your eyes for a few minutes won't bring you anywhere, has it ever done that before?
Let your mind wander until you stumble upon anything interesting, then follow it.

How can I tell if I'm simply not dreaming?

At night in the back of an alley, a homeless woman is being raped by drugged up high schoolers. She is then killed through strangulation. The smell of piss and feces cover the smell of trash in the alley.
Another place, a boy is kneeling on his knees, with tears falling from his eyes. What he is kneeling on his is mother, with her abdomen torn open. He is eating her entrails. Blood is covering his body, as his mother's arms hold him even after death.
Another place, two teenagers are playing chicken during a party. One stops before getting to the edge of the cliff. The other zooms straight past it. His car dives into the water and is quickly submerged into the water. The teenager breaks the car window with the seat headrest and swims onto shore.
At another time, it is World War Three. Brought upon by some micro nation that has somehow managed large amounts of power through unknown means. The world is in discord. Something similar to the Holocaust occurs once again, but on a smaller scale. A POW trapped in a room where his only source of light is the cracks from the door. Water drips to his head from a leaking pipe from the ceiling. He can hear the screams of various men and women if he strains his ears. Every once in a while, among the screams, he can hear laughter of insanity along with a loud, disgusting, crunching sound.
I do this for brainstorming :/.

As long as you're awake, you're not dreaming.
If you feel like you're dreaming after a few minutes of doing this, you're doing it absolutely right. Oftentimes, these meditations will lead you to sleep where you'll have wonderfully vivid dreams.
@Tatsu: Brilliant! That's what I want to read from you guys. I can't wait to read your posts on the advanced techniques in later threads.

Candles help some people. Going outside might help you lot, get away from the God with a Thousand Screens.
I'm sure it'll be a nice day to go out tomorrow, go for a long walk through a park. Don't have any goal, don't try and get someplace. Instead, feel the trees, smell the air, and enjoy the breeze and the sunlight.
When you get to a good resting place, lie down and let your mind flow. It should be easy. From there, just let your imagination take you where you like.

I'm disappointed that people on nation lack imagination! Come on people, you all need to help Phunkie write his stories and come up for a good plot for Mabination's RPG!

May ferrets apply?
I'ma have to do this exercise later on when all my siblings aren't as active.
Less distractions = Less all I see is black.
