Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I've recently returned to Mabinogi after years of avoiding all Nexon games. But after all my resistance, I've finally been pulled back in. >_<
So I made a new character to be built as a human warrior. I'm working on getting windmill rank 1 first. Learned that lesson from the mistakes I made on my old main.
What I've come here to ask is, like Windmill, what other skills should I focus on leveling first before they become too difficult / tedious because of combat power?
Also, what life skills would help a warrior? I know two so far, Production Mastery (Stamina) and Carpentry (STR).
And lastly, I came from a time when 2h swords were great. But now it seems dual wielding is on top. My question is, is anything other than lance or dual wielding for humans viable anymore for the more difficult dungeons?
I would like to use 2h or 1h & shield. I'm no min-maxer. Being able to hold my own in higher end dungeons will be enough. I'd like to do it as a human and not a giant.
Thank you for your time.

Hello, and welcome back to Mabi.
WM is probably still the most important skill to rank, but unlike the past, having a high CP does not make it difficult to train. With Saga EP4 Finale, you'll get endless spawns of ridiculously high CP enemies (that may lag dance as well) that will almost always be "boss".
Skills that are outside of the warrior or lance talent such as Carpentry, Mining, Ranged Attack, and Arrow Revolver gives str.
Dual Wielding is great for early to mid game, but falls short in comparison to 2 handed swords and lances due to the smash damage bonus. In my opinion, the best dual wielding combo is 2x Goddess Caliburn Battle Swords with max artisans.
The best two handed weapon outside of lances would be a r1 HCL (perhaps with a Lich + Crocodile enchant).
I HATE lances with a burning passion, but as far as I know, they're the best melee weapons. Secret Penetrating Knight Lance would be my suggestion if you are interested.
If you plan on using a shield, I suggest shield + axe.

In the early game stages, beam sword will beat out battle swords, then when it comes to mid game, battle swords shine.
Goddess Caliburn is a pretty costly option, I'd rather advise on getting Lion Hunter's Spike battle swords. Or just don't use them at all and use beam swords while you're a newbie.
There is really no reason to hate lances, more reasons to like it than not like it. Anyways, you shouldn't just focus on str, as you will get to other skill set later on. That being said, another really important stat is dex, which you can get pretty easily through basic life skills like refining, and range skills, as well as few from combat skills.
I advise against using a shield + 1 handed weapon. You're better off using a cylinder or wand with a shield.

Welcome back to Mabinogi !! I hope your return has been well.
Back then, I didn't like rolling Artisans on Battle Swords (Almost 50+ ridiculous rerolls on each sword !!) so I stuck with pre-enchanted Spike Falcatas from the Gachapons. Wolf Hunter's/Lion Hunter's for a decently cheap and easy enchant prefix. I used them till I got a Lance. I assume that Falcatas are much cheaper nowadays due to dual-wielding having been phased out by Lances, so hopefully rarity or cost won't be an issue on whatever server you play on.
You're going to want to rank Refine as well regardless if you are a Warrior at the moment while you have low DEX, unless you want to use Refining Potions later. (Only when your DEX shoots up too high/super lazy to the point where money is not a concern, or other reasons.) It's just cheaper to rank it up the former way. Super helpful for your Balance along with the addition of other combat-related mastery skills that boost your Balance in the long-run.
Continuing with Warrior, you'll eventually want to stick with a Lance, because that's the cream of the crop for Warriors. (Even if you hate the minimum distance for Lances with a burning passion when you first try it !! Because, I know I did. )

Hi! Welcome back!
I wanted to ask if you were at all interested in lances. Now, I know that Lances aren't that great if you don't have too much STR, but after you go through slashing with swords, you should definitely give lances another look: their piercing is very significant against some of the more stronger monsters, and I personally find them to be relatively fun
As for skills, you'll realize that with the exception of Windmill, most of the Warrior skills are AP-demanding (which means that skill training is less difficult than actually getting the AP), so don't worry too much about "which skills to rank".
However, some of the skills you might want to focus on are...
Final Hit
Carpentry
Basic Warrior Skills (Combat Mastery, Defense, Counter, Smash, Windmill, Assault Slash, etc...)
and Mining
Those should give you a decent amount of STR, and allow you to effectively use Lances. (I put my recommended ranks for Lance skills in parenthesis)
Lance Mastery (Master)
Lance Charge (r1)
Lance Counter (r3)
Also consider getting Grandmaster Warrior for the extra STR.
Good luck!

i'd like to say that if you really want to go straight into getting master warrior (grandmaster sucks btw) then i suggest ranking smash and FH after you do WM
they give the most if you refer to this list here
http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/view/Talent#Close_Combat
back to me saying grandmaster sucks, cuz i gotta explain that
it's simple, grandmaster only adds 30 more str and 5 more HP

Well, the man is going for a pure melee, so I'd think GM Warrior is most suitable to him until he chooses to use a different skillset (with the collecting of seals and 1m gold usage aside)

That 30 more str is 12 more max damage. Some people would kill for that bonus.
So grandmaster doesn't suck.
