I'm living with my aunt again and I spend a lot of the free time in the evening sitting by the pool, watching the jets move the water around, it's a good way to relax and give yourself some time to think. Well, last night I tried remembering the last time someone swam in the damn thing, so I asked my uncle. No one has been in it in over 6 years, yet they still pay the pool guy $200 a week every Tuesday to clean it, when a part goes bad they replace it. I did the math, they spent over 10.4k a year on upkeep on the damn thing. I asked my aunt why they just don't fill it in and occupy the space with something else like a garden or something and she just kind of changed the conversation.
I don't understand why.

Because maybe some day they will want to swim, and then they will be screwed because they don't have a pool.

You know Hanna, you can make use of the pool, it's like indirectly saving your aunt's money from being completely wasted.

Where does your aunt live?
Do her neighbors have pools, do they not?
Probably a case of "keeping up with the Jones'"

Because I'd get my clothes wet if have to wait until my clothes stop dripping so I can go in the house and then I have to try to rip wet clothes off and then put new clothes on and it's a pain in the ass and not worth it

South Florida, Coral Springs specifically, all of out neighsbors have pools and I did a little research and the value of our home actually drops by 64k without a pool

I think she'd almost have that if they didn't spend it on the pool cleaner guy.

10.4k a year
10,400 x 6 = 62,400$
(Your aunt must be rich I suppose)

Swimsuits are like $20-$80 depending on the size and brand. Yes, I saw $80 swimsuits before. No I would not recommend anyone buy them.
If you're going to be living there for a while you might as well enjoy what they have to offer.

The weightlessness is really relaxing. Plus swimming is really healthy.
