Totally called it.

Just like Skylanders or Disney infinity, you can use figurines to bring "personalized" versions of characters in game, with different stats and all.

This seems like a gimmick do garner more sells on the Wii U version. It doesn't seem like it will affect the gameplay very much

Well, the way Nintendo is doing it isn't bad.

They aren't making it a requirement to have to pay for characters. And the fact it'll work both on multiple consoles and across different series and games is good.

Although transporting those figures would be a pain without some kinda container for it.

I'm still hoping for an Awakening character or at least a skin. They mentioned earlier in Treehouse that there's still at least a couple more unnanounced characters. I need to know who they are.
