I am nearing the end of my stay in college, with only 1 and a half years left, and needed to create a plan to avoid moving back into my mothers house.
My chances of getting a job with only a few semseters of looking look slim, so I created a multi-step plan to ensure that I at the very least have a large chance of making it on my own.
My first part of my plan actually involves personal fitness. For many jobs and the military you are required to keep a level of fitness to ensure that you are able to work. I will begin working out this semester and make it a habit, 5 days a week, 30 minutes a day at the least, which will be ramped up if needed.
The second part involves the JET program. I have a lower-intermediate understanding of Japanese and believe that I am moderately qualified.
The third part involves taking 2 credit courses that are required to get a substitute teachers liscence in the state of missouri. I will then be able to take a job as a sub for schools, which is a moderately low-paying job, but a job none the less.
The fourth part is initiated at the start of my final year of college, in other words, next January. I will be graduating at the end of fall semester the following year, so that gives me 1 year. I will update my resume and send it off to any and all jobs that I could reasonably qualify for, and search the town for possible jobs as well. There is going to be a new addition to the college soon so I might be able to get a job there, as it will have dining facilities and stuff.
The fifth part of my plan involves joining the Military. If my job search does not go well, my father was in the Air Force before he died of MS so I thought of following in his footsteps. For that, instead of joining as an enlistee I was considering signing up as a Certified Officer, if I get a high enough GPA in my computer science degree.
If every single one of the above fail, I will have no other choice but to move back in with my mother, which if my sister is not yet moved out, will be the end of my life(or hers, joking).
Critiques? I know this seems weird to post this here, but I want to know if this is going over the top, as no one else I know ever seems to plan this far ahead. My mother got her degree 3 years ago and hasn't used it at all, which made sense for a while as my father had just died, but now she's just sub-teaching to supplement military income she gets from my father.
