Baol, what the heck?

  The difficulty isn't too high. The difficulty of everything previous to it was just scaled down for some reason. This pretty much removed all character strength and player skill checks up until the final dungeon. If they had let the difficulty gradually increase like before, this wouldn't be much of a problem.

  More related to the OP, the dungeon doesn't scale down to your level and wasn't nerfed into the ground like virtually every other generation quest. It's probably one of your few combat shocks in Mabi. In early generations Mabi was designed so that you needed to progress your character in order to kill monsters, for much lengthier periods of time such as weeks to months to years. Although you can take someone with an extremely high level to kill rooms of the mobs 10 times over in one hit, I suggest you work on getting stronger with your friends and overcoming it yourself. Believe me when I say it's more fun for everyone, enjoy it while you can.

  Thing is, back when G3 was originally designed, "magicians" was never part of Mabinogi.
  
  Magic was a side-support skill for general combat. Roles didn't exist in chapter 1 content. Many argue things were better like that, but Mabi eventually succumbed to the same gameplay elements of every other mmo.

  I hardly find that to be true, after ranking just one bolt you pretty much became a magician. You may have used counter or windmill quite frequently, but back then a decent rank of ice bolt was the very definition of a magic character. In no way was that support; people used bolts for damage and often even used wands or specific enchants for the meager damage boosts they provide. It's not much different from someone with 30 skills and a full set devoted to them.

  Well, to be fair, a lot of the stuff in baol would have pulverized you in seconds flat if we let them run around unhindered.
  (Not counting me suddenly realizing I still needed the arghus for trans which slowed things down a bit.)
  (And then there was WoTG-ing Lycanthropes for shits and giggles, because screw those guys.)
  
  But yeah, Baol is still a "strong people take you through it" dungeon, which is odd considering the placement and such (being part of the rework in the Genesis update) as people mentioned.

  Yeah, like isn't Tarlach considered a magician skill-wise? xD
