I don't expect much more out of the anonymous internet populace. I'm glad that Giant Bomb staff are taking a conservative approach to this situation. The "most qualified" person should get the job. That's not a completely fair approach but it's the one that is most beneficial to the organization.

I don't support affirmative action but I do understand that it's something potentially desirable, at least when working in close proximity to society (e.g. law enforcement). Such things should definitely stay in the realm of special interest groups concerning personal development goals akin to technical training and post-secondary education.

Unless they were actually saying something about women being inferior, I don't see why she should complain. The site isn't much of a "female gamer's POV" type of site to begin with, and if she wanted that, there are sites for that elsewhere, and many female-made game review blogs everywhere.

But the thing is feminism is still very much needed in the world, especially in third-world countries.
From what I've seen it's mostly American feminists who pull this type of crap.
There are three types of feminists I've encountered.
1. The ones who know the meaning of equality. They don't care what race, sex, or gender you are as long as you believe in equality you're in good terms with them.
2. The ones who think all white (straight) cisgendered men are all privileged. They only care about women and minorities.
3. The ones who only about women. Trans are branded as traitors, all men scum. If you don't approve you are a "rape culture" apologist.

There's really no excuse for 2 and 3. It's sexism and racism thinly veiled. And it's sad that 2 & 3 are what people think feminism is.

I agree, I really don't understand why people think that the best minority and women video game journalist applied.
There's really no proof that supports that, for all we know there might have not been any minority or women applied.
For all I know there might have not even been an application process, they could of just hired their friends.

I wouldn't have a problem with feminism if the majority of feminists weren't toxic waste spewing machines.
I support the efforts in fights where it's actually needed (third world countries) however western feminism is basically repeating false statistics into teenagers minds to brainwash them and threatening or actually acting out when anyone disagrees with them.

If a man tries to bring up any type of injustices he may have face he is ridiculed and harassed into silenced.
Shit, a voice for men (one of my favorite websites) tried to have a convention in detroit and feminists protested them to the point they couldn't even speak.

I used to be a radical feminist with a victim complex, but I became more and more uncomfortable with the way feminist were treating men, and once I found out all of the reasons I was a feminist were false, I was like "fuck this cause, it can go to hell"

I'd like western feminists more if

-their entire cause wasn't built upon proven false statistics
-they didn't belittle or silence men's issues
-they didn't advocate violence against men
-they wouldn't purposely lie or use the deaths of women to push their agenda
-they focuses on real issues, like inequality in third world countries instead of men being able to open their legs on public transportation and men looking at the mostly exposed boobs.

Of course women can open their legs in public, just like they can wear pants. Of course, that prerequisites that ythey actually go and do it instead of complaining on the internet and wanting father state to do everything for them and society magically starting to think that women are just men with big breasts. Well, that's what's going to happen when you increasingly start exposing bodyparts considered sexually loaded in places where it's not the norm yet. Men aren't magical beings from a superdimensionw ho can just turn taht sort of thing of. These women are so weak, you gotta feel pity for them. Can't even endure a few stares by people. Maybe that's why they're so bitter, they can't do shit on their own. Not to mention how weird it is to feel offended by a clear sign of attraction. Well any sort of mechanism will be abused eventually. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I mean the assumption of innocence also gets abused, doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
