Are Hero cards worth it?

Hey guys :) this is my first time posting here, so bare withe me :p

I'm wandering, now that my character is approaching level 1000 if it would be worth getting a hero card? I recently returned after a long break (since EU shut down) and i am wanting something new to play with. in EU i was a mage (mainly), however in NA i decided to go alch., and while it was fun i miss my old character. So im wandering if i would be just as well buying a hero card and selecting the Merlin destiny. This gives me a decent set of skills + 400AP. Or should i start fresh and just make a new character. If anyone could list what i would get in full (as in, do i still suffer the newbie wear with no weaps. except an ice wand) and what the skill ranks are. I am really just afraid that i create the character and dislike it. Well thanks :)

Depends if you get the druid's mark or not for the hero card. If so you have bonus 50% training rate for magic, Cleric and Apothecary. That means ranking even enchant is easily feasible. The Druid's Mark has 50 dur and can be enchanted, so that's a plus. Not sure if you need an elite hero to get it though.

Druid card also saves you the trouble of collecting pages for int magics.

Items: I think with merlin you'd get Merlin knuckles? Not sure.

It's been confirmed by several people that both hero and elite hero created characters will make get you the mentioned training badge. If you're planning on starting a mage talent character on the same account, the hero/elite cards are a great way to go for reasons mentioned above... just keep in mind that storyline missions will start in Hardmode.

The only part of hero cards that's a little less relevant now is the starting level, what with the free rebirths weekly/daily if you're over/under lvl 1k (respectively.) Hero cards will still save you a lot of hassle or at least time in game for only 2-3 times the price of adding a fresh character to your account.

the training from the seal is so worth it like those things are probably one of my favorite things I've ever put nx in to. Also as stated, not needing the pages for int magics really ends up paying for itself in the long run

it also counts as a new character in general, so you can get another pegasus, more bank space, inv space, daily seal alt, whatever. I love those cards

My answer might be a little off the mark since I made a 2k mage, but.. in any case my Merlin character has become my secondary main, haha. Starting at 2k total, winding up at 3k I've maxed out the relevant things in the magic tab, gotten a base of 951 int. at rebirth, and reached grandmaster mage/meteor strike master. o3o The training marks are Godsends also. xD But those cards really do save tons of time. I absolutely recommend any of them if you're interested in the related talents but not on an already existing character.

Though to clarify.. they wouldn't exactly "stack," perse. The +50% doesn't affect skill training requirements, only the number in skill prof. that you gain, which is much more beneficial than knocking out more requirements. o3o

It did. Unequip the badge, look at what each point of training will give you in your skill's training window, then re-equip the badge again. You should notice that all the previous values have been buffed by 1.5x. So yeah, you're getting 3x training with the badge and vates talent.
