Hello there, thank you for taking the time to read! First thread, sorry if I'm not correctly following any rules or anything! ; ;
Recently I've been on the hunt for a Lava Cat Robe, and I've been doing that by fossil restoration.
I've been at it for a few days now, barely/somewhat restoring fossils as best as I can (I assume the message, "the fossil looks really nice" or something like that, means it's somewhat?). I just can't get a "mostly", no matter how many tips/tricks I read/watch! ; u;
And buying one would probably be not an option, unless someone is willing to take a maximum of 60k for their's, which I doubt :x [S]It's all I have I'm so sorry![/S]
I'd really like to work hard for the robe and earn it myself, since my boyfriend's been throwing his gold at me to get me my outfits. ; A ; I want to use the gold I save up to buy something for him to thank him for putting up with me and my needy ways. uwu
I'm not exactly sure what I want to ask for, but maybe for advice, or to share some stories as to how you got your robe? Like, how many fossils it took, which kind of fossil..
Anything, really, will be very much appreciated! <3
[S]Mining gets really lonely so it feels nice knowing there are people out there that can help you ^^;
[/S]
Thank you again for viewing, and have a lovely day/night! :llama_blush2:
Update
-----------
Oh my gosh, many many thanks to ghowell for GIFTING me the kitty robe! ; u ;
I can't believe how nice people are ;u;
Also, thank you so so much for the help, you guys. <3
I'll be keeping your advice and help in mind!

There's only a chance in getting the robe. While higher quality means higher chance it's still mabinogi and is a low rate.
They're usually around 500k~750k when it comes to buying / selling. If you want to make money you need to either grind for it or you need to sell things you currently have.
I'm guessing that you aren't that leveled yet and grinding / spamming for gold isn't as realistic as you'd like but it's most likely quicker to do that then to spend your time restoring fossils.

Ooh. So I guess it'll be faster to earn money and buy the robe than taking my chances with the fossils? I guess if I get tired of earning gold I'll resort back to fossils, then switch.
And so sorry for posting in the wrong section ^^;
The thought of using something against the ToS makes me nervous, so I most likely won't be using macros. q w q
Thank you for the replies <3

If you want to grind fossils for the robe, your best bet is typically a Tibia fossil. The simple shape is such that I can almost always get mostly or perfect on them by hand. Use the large brush to do a fast outline and any corners that it's sized to, and a quick sweep of the outer area. Mid-size for a closer outline, then small brush to clean up dirt with whatever time you have left.
If you'd rather grind out the gold to buy a robe, there are a number of ways, depending on your combat abilities. Rabbie and Rabbie Basic are a safe if somewhat slow source of skele/red skele/metal skele fomor scrolls, with Albey Red Gem dungeon being a bit faster if slightly more dangerous. Commerce is a good way to earn gold pretty quickly, especially if you convert your ducats into gold by buying+selling the traveller uniforms or whatever they're called.
You can also grind the various daily quests, many of which are pretty easy, to get Adventurer Seals. 12 seals = 200K if you sell the Enchant Expiration Removal scrolls. This method can be especially useful if you have multiple alt characters that can handle a bit of combat, since they're bank-tradeable.
If I remember right my own Lava Cat took, like, 250 fossils. Most of the skulls/pelvises were somewhat restored, tibias mostly/perfectly. It's a grind. Don't forget to take breaks, do things more enjoyable than mining. Fuck around with sulfur golems, stuff like that.

Wow, first of all, thank you for an elaborate reply! ^^
The information and advice you provided is really useful. I could try commerce some more, I hear going from Bangor to Belvast earns quite a bit..?
and Rabbie's a fun dungeon, since the Black Succubus is pretty easy to beat. And Succubi are cool :llama_impretty:
As for daily quests--I should probably start doing those, huh? ^^;
Oh, 250 fossils? Whoa :o
If I can hunt down a Feebas in Pokemon Sapphire, then I could probably grind some fossils and get a Lava too *u*
Though, I guess it's not exactly the same since it's guaranteed a Feebas is in the water.
Those golems are scary q w q
From time to time, I'd give them a quick poke and fly away once they're up and angry p:
Thank you again!

Glad to help haha. To be honest I'm not sure what route works best, I stopped some time before I quit ages ago, and haven't gotten back into it since my return. My fomor weapons are running out of dur and my ducat wallet is dwindling though, so I probably should... That sounds like a pack-elephant profitable route though, since Bangor's stuff is mostly really heavy.
The reason I mention Rabbie Basic is that it's only slightly tougher than Rabbie Normal, and the armoured versions of skeletons have a much higher drop rate for fomor scrolls. If you want some extra cash, don't forget to grab the Hunt Down the Skeleton/Red Skeleton/Metal Skeleton party quests. They only give like 2K each, but hey, gold is gold.
An easy four dailies that basically any character can do with minimal combat skills is the Tara/Taill dailies on Basic, Run a Uladh Dungeon, and gather 50 X. The 50-item gather quest also provides you with a fruit that gives you a flat ~25% exp required for your current level. On top of that, the Tara/Taill dailies also give you 3AP/day that you do both and a solid chunk of exp, so that's pretty neat.
Yeah, the numbers vary pretty wildly. I have a friend who got one after 7 fossils, and one who restored about 700 before giving up and buying a robe lol. It's basically just a matter of persistence and fossil-restoring practice.
As an elf you can mine them and then use Hide the moment they aggro. Wait for 'em to drop aggro and repeat. They have a much better drop rate for fossils, so that may be a way for you to increase efficiency.
Glad I can help some, it is really nice to have a Lava Cat. To hell with Mysterious robes, my whiskers and flames are where it's at.

WHY WOULD YOU SUGGEST THAT?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!
OP: Basically what Fracture said. If you want a commerce partner, I'll be glad to accompany; just don't ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER abandon me to bandits.

Yeah, I think I'll start doing the dailies now ^^; And hunting those red/metal skellies.
Those people who can get their robes at a single digit number of fossils are incredibly lucky. I've heard some got some on their first try, which made me believe it wouldn't be SO hard. I was so wrong. Though, I guess I had it a whole lot easier, since I was surprised with a gift that came in the mail. Oh gosh I'm still so happy uwu
Gon' go pick on some golems now c:<
Justkidding
And don't forget the kitty ears! Who needs a creepy mask when you've got kitty ears and whiskers.
Thanks for the offer, Darkboy!
And if we ever go out to commerce together, I most certainly won't leave you to the bandits! p:
Though, I might slow you down since I still have the burden of a backpack.
Maybe once I get a wagon or something I'll come to you when you're free ^^
