[Mabinogi-JP] Regeneration - Ninjutsu Update (Consolidated and Organized)

  1. That's listed in the skills section of the OP. Some skills are unknown because it was difficult to test by myself.
  2. Same deal as before, I need one of the other people who had JP accounts to help me test that and I didn't have help.
  3. I have genuinely no idea how to test that.
  4. I couldn't test that in JP because I do not know of any memory mods for JP's client, only NA's. I could test that in NA later when I am free.

Well, you could test them all in NA.

-Does Defense work on any of the ninja skills?
-Does Evasion/Luck Evasion work? I luck evaded Shinobi's normal attacks, but I didn't check for evasion.
-Do any of the ninja skills ignore prot for crit calculation?
-Does the multi-hits from Kunai Storm and Sakura Abyss affect weapon durability and proficiency?

Defense works against Shuriken Charge. It will trigger against Kunai Storm and reduce damage, but will not prevent the stun. Edit: Defense also works against Exploding Kunai.

Sakura Abyss, Kunai Storm, and Exploding Kunai all ignore protection when calculating critical hit rate.

Whats the hotkey for target selecting called? The closest I could find is called Switch Target, which works fine unless I want to switch to a different target for Shuriken Charge ironically, since it'll jump to closest/random targets instead of the target I have locked on with control/closest to mouse. I saw a few people mention this targetting hotkey so I was just wondering :C

Move Targeting. Weird name I know.

Also, is by any chance the 90 in Smokescreen the debuff duration?

But I still don't know how to test if protection effects crit calculation. For all I know I could really lucky or unlucky in rng.

Take off any crit-increasing gear/titles, stamina potion poison yourself down to 0 will, then look at your crit (try to get it slightly less than 30%) and go fight monsters that have over half your crit rate in protection. You shouldn't be able to crit on them at all normally, so if a skill does crit then that skill ignores protection for crit calculation.

I was able to get myself down to 28.2% to 29.7% crit with this, and testing the skills on the first-room enemies in The Other Alchemists (all with 19% or above crit meaning -38% crit if protection is a factor and assuming their protection on the wiki is correct), the results for which skills were able to crit through protection or not is...

    Shuriken Mastery: No
    Shuriken Charge: Yes
    Shadow Cloak: Yes
    Explosive Kunai: Yes
    Kunai Storm: Yes
    Smokescreen: N/A
    Shadow Bind: N/A
    Sakura Abyss: Yes

To make sure things were correct, after testing all of the skills I finished off the next wave with nothing but normal attacks, and didn't get a single crit with a normal attack the entire time I was in that mission.

So it looks like ALL the damage-dealing ninja skills ignore protection for crit chance (minus the weapon mastery of course). That explains them nerfing red upgrades on shurikens (420 damage needed to bypass blue).

EDIT: A screenshot from when I was testing, right after Shadow Cloak crit.

    Wow that definitely makes sense.

Does smokescreening an already debuffed monster reset the duration? I'd assume not since doing that doesn't train the skill.

It seems like the 2.33 modifier is incorrect? I have about 400 max with shuriken, but on provo basic barriers at r1 i only seem to deal around 3-3,3k ish

Put a shuriken on and screenshot your character screen?

Try testing with Spinning Uppercut/Bone Dragon debuff applied. If you end up doing more damage, then it's because of defense and/or protection.
