Before we get down to the discussion, you probably have noticed this discussion is about spiders, which means there's a large chance that this thread will contain photos of videos of them. So if you can't handle it, you may want to leave.
---
I may have asked this question before but most people have an irrational fear of spiders, most (that I've seen) will even scream and run away at the mere sight of one regardless of size or species. All of them have them killed immediately and may even refuse to enter a room if they get away.
I've never been scared of spiders, and I think most people's fear of them (and snakes/reptiles) come from what they've seen from their family and friends growing up.
I think the reason I'm not afraid of them along with reptiles is because my cousins taught me about spiders, snakes, and lizards when I was really young. They taught me to love and respect them, and it's hard to fear something I love so much. I think they move gracefully, their webs are beautiful. I think they're one of the most misunderstand creatures.
Last year I was about to go to bed, and I unlocked my phone and the back light shined against my pillow and wall and I saw his shadow and I sat up and admired him for a bit before removing him and placing him outside.
Spiders aren't that dangerous, they only bite if startled and most "spider bites" found when you wake up aren't actually spider bites, but are from other bugs/insects. Spiders only bite when startled or cornered. The myth that you swallow 8 spiders in your sleep is also false, and if you look at it from a spider's point of view, you're a huge potential predator and if they can help it, they'll do their best to keep away from you.

Because their feet are like tiny knives, and the spiders where I live, even though they arn't srsbeans deadly, have balls of steel and run at you.

I live in an old building near gardens and stuff so all kinds of bugs sneak in from time to time. While I don't mind most of them (hornets are really bad, tho), spiders help to keep most of these away. I like spiders.

If they don't bother me, i don't bother them.
As long as i don't see like 20+ of them in a tight spot...

Because they sit there like they pay the rent. [S]Which is my job.[/S]
Sensitive skin started it... I think. It wasn't helped when I was young and saw a wolf spider in my bed sheets. Even though it was quickly disposed of, I didn't sleep in my bed for several weeks afterwards. I made a make-shift raised bed in my room and slept on that for a while. It was actually quite comfortable.
It's only when they come near me in my direction that it really bugs me. Otherwise Hanna, generally I don't care. I'm this way with most bugs, aside from the flying fuckers. As long as you don't bother me, or come near me, I could care less what you do. But Flies.Gnats.Moths. Fucking my god, what part of ME SWATTING MY HAND TO MAKE YOU FLY AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!

I don't have a phobia of any bugs I know of where I live (if I went to australia would be a different story), but that doesn't mean I like them hanging out in my house either. When I do see a bug I get rid of it, if it's a bug I consider "cool" like ladybugs or beetles I'll try to let them out by opening a window or door if they're next to it. Anything else is just too bad for them, wrong place wrong time. Want to mess around in my house do it where I can't see it.
It also doesn't help that everyone around me hates bugs so getting rid of them is just standard practice.

I don't think spiders view us as predators, I think they just see big moving shit hulking towards them. Like a meteorite falling down to earth for us.
I'm not per se scared of spiders, but I get really nervous when I get in running range of medium-sized, fast spiders like Tegenaria, or if there's a huge ball of spiderlings or opiliones, or in a tight space full of them and their webs. I think it's because one fell down on me in the cellar one day when I went looking and poking at them. I still like them though. I once rescued a Tegeneria adult and spiderling from drowning in our bathroom, but only because they were weakened and not running as fast as the normally do.
Also spider faces jumping in your view at high magnification under a microscope is really scary.
Eventually, when I have the money to sustain such a high-cost hobby, I want to have a wall-spanning aquaterrarium for fishing spiders (and other assorted animals to complement them and make it less empty).

I've always thought spiders were really cool. There used to be a giant web in my backyard and I would always bring my magnifying glass to look at them.
I don't think I could deal with a crowd of them though (not very good with any sort of crowd).
But roaches and pretty much anything that can fly I can't stand. Living in Florida doesn't help much.

I don't have a phobia of spiders, but I don't like them either. They like to build their webs right where I walk so they get in my hair or in the corners of rooms so they look dirty. I especially hate the jumping ones because as their name implies they jump at you. I smash on site because there area couple poison ones in this Area and they all have identifying features that you have to be centimeters from the spider to see and I don't feel like putting my face that close to a potentially poisonous spider. But I've never like evacuated a room over a spider before. Don't have any problem with snakes and reptiles, the poison ones of those have markings big enough to see from a distance.

Honestly I go out of my way to kill any insects in my house, or let my cat eat them.
