Cutting corners is what helps you do things more efficiently. So if you're being efficient while being lazy, you're either wise or lucky on how much you should cut corners. Too little is not worth it. Too much is costly and counter-productive.

I view the definition of cutting corners as being sloppy. Kinda like saying fuck it and cutting a corner while driving.
