Back in the hayday of Origin, this was not optional. It was forced, hence Origin was labeled as such.
Also don't get me started on the list of legitimate reasons why I hate EA, clearly the sentiment was true for 2 years running if it was voted worst company twice.
But that's not for this topic.

Wow, this pictures changes everything.
It's not like I've seen this picture every time someone claims Origin is spyware, it's not like the picture is old and gets reposted a lot, and it's not like we actually don't know if this person ever gave consent to let Origin scan his/her System since you know that's pretty easy to fake with screenshots.
Look mate, I am just here to warn, you can lead the horse to water but can't make it drink. If you don't care, who am I to stop you? I choose to not take the chance and just pick some other game for my entertainment, but I am sure risk privacy to play EA games is equally valid.
It's not that I don't care, it's that it's not true at all. You're using an extremely overused image that the user most likely has given consent to share information with.
But hey if you want to believe that Origin is evil just because you dislike EA then I can't really change your mind, but just know that you're wrong.
First of all, there are official statement from EA that confirms it (seriously, it's on that page I linked as well).
Second, Whether it's true or not aside, do you really want to chance it?Would I use a needle used by other people before me? Maybe it's clean, but why risk it?
Even if I don't hate EA's business practice, I would still avoid it because it's just some games, in a VAST pool of games. I can play something without origin really easily.
If you love EA maybe you wouldn't care, but even people who are neutral wouldn't want to take the chance.
