Introduction
Everybody likes fixed dyes, right? The ability to recolor your clothes with some measure of control is great in this game, and even if you're not into fashion yourself, selling dyes can be a good source of income. I sell dyes anywhere from 25-75K up to 500K a pop depending on the color, on a regular basis.
With the alchemy Synthesis skill (check the link on how to get it if you don't have it), you can take random trash dyes and synth them, rolling new randomly-selected fixed colors starting at a 55-56% success rate with rank F alchemy skills. The Synthesis recipe for a random fixed dye amp requires two existing dyes, an unknown ore fragment, and a garbage herb.
Material: Dyes
Yes, you need dyes to make dyes. The good news is that the dyes you use don't matter as long as they're fixed and not expired. This means that you can go around to shops or other players and buy their really bad dye colors cheaply (like the 5K puke-colored dyes) for use in synthing.
You can even use the expiring flashy dyes from dye wells (as long as their timer hasn't run out), and in fact I recommend this as people tend to sell the bad flashies really cheaply and they likely won't get used otherwise before they expire. If you have a flashy dye well (and a partner with double gathering) then you have a constant source, if not you'll just have to scout out player shops and buy the cheap flashy dye loads.
Material: Unknown Ore Fragment
You'll need one Unknown Ore Fragment per synth attempt. While metal conversion and metallurgy failures have been traditional sources of these, I suggest Rare Minerology in the Hillwen Mines to get a bunch of these quickly. Drilling in basement 1 gets you the highest chance of unknowns, but the deposits are empty quickly so you might find it preferable to use basement 2, as despite the slightly lowered unknown ore chance, the deposits there have more successes in them (but watch out for the mobs).
You will have to have made enough progress through The Saga: Iria in order to get access down into the mines, if you haven't done that then you can maybe find somebody to smuggle you in on a pet.
Material: Garbage Herb
Just like above, you'll need one Garbage Herb per synthesis attempt, and just like above there's older methods to get these but I recommend Shyllien Ecology in the Shyllien Nature Reserve. The lobby itself is actually the equivalent to basement 1 of the mines, there's gathering spots in the open area that the second teleport mage NPC is facing. These drop garbage herbs frequently.
Location
Once you have your materials, you're ready to perform alchemy. You do this at a Dry Oven, there's a couple of them in Taillteann and some in Emain Macha as the link says. There's also ones in homesteads, if you or somebody you know has one installed in their homestead then you can use that for synthing without having to run to specific locations. Do note that homestead tools need to be set to allow other people to use it by the owner, as they only let the owner use them by default when they're installed.
Process
Once you have all your materials and are at a dry oven, you click the oven and then put the materials in. For dyes you just drag them over, but for the ores and herbs you will need to split the stacks each time, as synthesis does not have any sort of queue function. For quick splitting of 1, shift-click on a stack and then press the enter key.
The below video shows me going through the process a few times to synth dyes.
