This is a tragedy. I deeply dread the day that my two kitties leave this world :( life can be unfair sometimes. That being said, at least it seems your kitty lived a pretty long life and brought you much joy.
[SPOILER="sad stories"]
I've lost a couple of my cats, but I keep going on having pets despite each one causing heartache and an empty hole in my soul.
I had one cat, named Monster(he was a little demon), that had been in a fight with a dog when he was probably 2 or 3 years old (I was a little kid at the time), he was torn to shreds pretty much but still managed to drag himself home only to die on our front porch before we were even awake.
We had a cat named "Messy Kitty" that loved to play with toilet paper anytime she could get some. I raised her from a kitten but at only 8 years old she died from some sort of feline AIDS equivalent disease (we are too poor to do extensive tests or research, she had to be put down unfortunately). She was an inside and outside the house cat, since then I only have kept my cats inside. Whatever she contracted was likely from the strays out in the world.
The last cat I had die was only a kitten named Precious (she was this pure white little bundle of joy), she was only a few months old and was pretty ill with some disease or another, she had a seizure one day and died in my arms :(
I have two cats now, one is about 6 years old and the other is probably about a year and a half. I hope they live long healthy lives, hopefully I'll be making big bucks by the end of their life spans so I can give them pain free elder years.
