Okay... I decided to start with Merlin as my talent, and I've reached a total level of 166... I'd love to train meteor strike, but I can't get it past F without dealing 12k damage. How do I do it? ;-; Most I can do is 1.2 per enemy

hit as many super weak enemies as possible in one shot.
Though since you just started your character I recommend having a lot of other skills before meteor since it's mostly useless. You also won't have enough stats to train it properly at higher ranks.
At rF meteor will be as useful to you as any other rank for the content you'll be playing.

Considering that the quest requirement for meteor strike demands r1 fireball and fire mastery if you don't get it from Druid rb, I'd say to leave meteor for last and get your other magic done first.

I agree with this. Meteor strike isn't useful since there's a 30 minute cooldown, and ranking it would require over 500 APs, more than any other skill in the game IIRC.
I only started ranking meteor recently because most of my magic skill are r1. I don't think it's a good idea for you to rank it at this point, since you can invest APs in a more practical skill. Anyhow, Meteor strike is best for its master title, tbh, although it's somewhat useful for bosses between 30 mins.
If you must however, you can train in sector 2 of the Shyllian Reserve, east of Filia in Iria.
Meteor has an extremely wide range, so you can keep a safe distance from any mobs. The plants are clustered near the giant crystal, deep within the reserve. Don't stand too close, or you'll get fireball'd. [/UB]

Mine's r1 and I barely use it. All my magic skills are r1 expect enchant.
Like the others said, don't rank it quite yet.

Is your critical hit even maxed yet? That would be a good starting point.
The damage training requirement only gets higher and higher. Like people said, it is better to hold off on training meteor, and train your other magic skills first.
