[Image: http://cdn.mmo-play.com/images/blade-and-soul/news/blade-and-soul-beta.jpg]In the West, options are pretty scares when it comes to choosing a martial arts themed mmo. There are some great options out there already, with titles like Age of Wushu/Wulin and Ruble Fighter, but the upcoming mmo, Blade and Soul is certainly looking to be a welcome addition.
The Western localization of Blade and Soul has been in development for quite some time with NCSoft, who responsible for the lion's share of Korea's leading mmo games, including Aion, Guild Wars, Wildstar and the Lineage series.
NCSoft have turned up in force at Gamescom this year and, although there are no official statements from the devs, reports from the hall floor ar that they've targeted 2015 for the Blade and Soul beta for Europe and North America.
According to fans on the Blade and Soul fansite, Blade and Soul Dojo, the closed beta for the Korean mmo will focus heavily on PvP as the game will be aiming to get a reputation as an eSports-worthy mmo in the west with tournament play and a freemium business model.

Despite the PvP focus, there are murmurs of servers being split between PvP and PvE. At present, the plan is for these to be accessed via a Chinese client. However, if PvP is a focus, it would make sense to find a more local option, in the interest of maintaining a good quality netcode.
Although 2015 is still a long way off, it's great to know that there's already a focus on bringing the mmo West. Now, all we can do is wait.
