So, I went downstairs to see that the power to my living room was out.
Assuming a fuse was switched or something I went on a quest to find the breaker box, but could not find it.
Called landlord (this being 10pm and i hate bothering people) and he said he would send the maint. man out in the morning because the breaker box is in a locked room in the laundry room.
About 5 minutes after the call the rest of the house lost power for a hour, and it turned out that it was an electrical outage for the block because i dont know.
Now the maint. guy is going to be here at 8am and I don't know what to say. I'm annoyed that the breaker box is locked in the basement, but i'm more annoyed that I bothered the landlord at like 10pm for nothing, and the maint guy was caused further trouble.

not sure why you would feel terrible asking people to do their job when something breaks :what:

Because nothing broke. That's like if you bought a new stove and it didn't work so you made the guy from the store come out at 8 AM and replace it but there was nothing wrong with the stove, you forgot to turn the gas on.

it's still his job to do so, it would be different if he didn't get paid for it

Well yeah, I understand. I was trying to explain to Splat why he would feel bad about making the guy come out when nothing was wrong though.

It could have been a different problem, you didn't know the power was going to go out for everyone. I'm sure the moment it went out for everyone else, the land lord got more calls lol
If there is a problem, its natural to call the people who can (sometimes) fix it. If nobody called the landlord about the power going out for the block, perhaps they wouldn't have called the electric company, and if they hadn't done that then perhaps the electric company would have taken longer to respond to the issue.

Went better than I thought. Turned out multiple people called him and he called out the power company. Also managed to notify him that the safety light near the laundry room is broken!

Yeah but this is definitely going on what of those tales subreddit where the guy will complain about a customer that made a housecall for nothing.
On the bright side, he'll gain massive amounts karma to erect his internet phallus with.

it's better than him spending an hour fixing it
