  I would have done it with the actual games, but I wanted this to be open to everyone, and not everyone has the games, but everyone here (I assume) has internet access, so an online battle simulator will do the same thing as having it done through the actual game. As for shinies being a prize, I'm way too fucking lazy to hunt down shiny Pokemon that people would be interested in, and even lazier to find one that have at least 5 perfect IVs in the proper places. Dx

  For the regular matches leading up to the tournament, people can do them anytime after I announce them, up until the last weekend of September. You can choose to do them as soon as you get your assignment, or you can do them all on the 26th. This way, there won't be any conflicting schedules, since both parties come to an agreement on when to fight. On the 27th, I'll send a message to anyone that has yet to complete all of their matches, giving them until about an hour before the tournament "officially starts" (some time during the 28th) to get their remaining matches in. Should someone fail to complete all of their matches, they forfeit their position in the tournament. I won't punish both people in non-completed matches, only the one that failed to contact/appear for their match (I'll need evidence that multiple attempts were given to reach the non-responsive person).
  
  We have a month until the tournament starts, giving us plenty of time for everyone to agree to a time to start the tournament. Considering that we have people on this site from all over the world that could join the event, we could extend the length of the tournament to run from 28th all the way through the 30th so that everyone has a fair chance to compete, even if they have to wait to make sure all matches in a round are completed before advancing to the next round.

  Again, for the regular matches before the tournament, you can do them whenever before the cutoff, which will be about an hour before the communally agreed upon time on the 28th. Even if you were gone from the 2nd until the 27th, as long as you show that you've made multiple attempts to reach your opponent in a timely fashion, you won't be barred from the tournament.
  
  But if you honestly don't think that you can reasonably battle everyone within reasonable time before the tournament, please don't sign up.

  Doubles VGC or Singles Smogon are fine, but then we also have to figure out a tier list if we're going smogon. Personally I think OU will probably fit the widest audience.
