I'll underline things that are more drama than comedy, and all-cap things that are more comedy than drama, since you're looking for shows with a decent balance of both.
Don't let its title or the fact it's on CBS fool you. The Good Wife is amazing. I fricking mean it. Person of Interest is a bit campy, but it's campy fun. Shit just got really real in the most recent season.
In addition to that, I'd have to recommend HOUSE OF LIES. True Detective has already been mentioned in this thread, but I'll second/third/fourth(?) that show. A friend of mine who's big on comic-related shows has been enjoying Arrow unironically, and has convinced me that it's worth checking out.
As for other shows you could be watching: SHERLOCK and Luther (both British shows) are very good picks.
SHAMELESS, EPISODES and MISFITS (British) will be hit-or-miss, especially in regard to Shameless and Misfits.
Leverage is a really awesome camp-fest, if you're into Ocean's Eleven-type heists with a much goofier cast in the format of a tv series. That's right; a tv series about Robin Hoodish heists. I wasn't sure whether to call it a lighthearted drama or a tense comedy, but I decided that the suspense wins out over the humor, but both are very present in this show.
I imagine you've already seen The Wire by now, so I'm reluctant to bring it up. I've also been a bit hesitant to bring up some animated series, but if those are also on the table, lemme know.

Hannibal is good if you like darker themed shows and drama.

Combining two cringeworthy things somehow made them both amusing. What is this sorcery?
