  He probably had the halloween buff with the 90k, rebirth outside of an int talent, different weapon, forgot to equip gloves/acc, doing it in late rounds, or just unlucky.

  It's way noticeable on lower rounds and not as noticeable on higher rounds because of the damage reduction curve.
  
  As far as I can tell, enemies need to be hit by at least 1 tic of hydra before the blaze combo, and their magic protection goes back to normal after hydra ends or a certain amount of time since last tic has passed.

  Ah. Blaze does take account of magic protection? Blaze damage in MA also suggests it too. I wasn't sure about that, but the wiki says otherwise.

  As for whether or not hydra works, my blaze does like 100~110k on round one without a hydra tick and like 130k+ with a hydra tick. I'd say hydra is only really worth it if you only have one blazer and need to make the most of it though, because with multiple blazers things will die whether you do a little more damage or not.
