PSP Battery Dying

  The solution may be as simple as a new battery but I thought I'd check here first.
  
  Basically, my PSP is going dead even when not in use. I fully charge the battery, play it for a couple hours then turn it off. When I come back to it a week or two later it's totally dead despite being turned off and untouched. Also it takes HOURS to charge. Like, if I plug it in at noon I might be able to play it by midnight.
  
  In case it matters, this is one of the original PSPs, not a slim go vita or whatever the new models are.

  All the symptoms of a dead battery, similar will happen to a laptop. Best change it.

  Well, I didn't get it at launch, I got it used a couple years later, but yeah.

  I thought that's what it was, but I didn't want to waste money on a battery and find out it was something else, lol.

  Consumer lithium ion batteries typically have a lifetime of around 400 recharge cycles. That is, draining the battery to 0% and then charging it back to 100% counts as one cycle, draining to 50% and charging back to 100% counts as roughly half a cycle, etc. The battery doesn't just instantly die once it reaches this count--it gradually degrades with use. The 400 cycles mark is just generally when the battery will only hold 60% of its original capacity at full charge. As you keep using it, this will go down, until it's basically unusable, as is in your case.
