  During large solar spikes it's always a good idea to protect your equipment by testing commercial grounds in advance. I'm sure enterprise level server stacks are already shielded and have facility uninterruptible power supplies but this particular interference shouldn't impact ground stations.
  
  The sort of geosynchronous satellites I work with might be affected but won't be damaged.
