The manga finished today. Not sure if it was supposed to or not. It felt kind of rushed suddenly.
In one one chapter they finished up their fights with the evil group and saved the world, next chapter the manga ends. There was a lot I was still expecting to see/didn't get answers to.
It looks like a generation of big manga are nearing their end too, last I checked naruto/bleach they seemed to be on their last arcs.
One Piece looks like it'll go on for another 10 years or something though.

Super long fighting shonens aren't really that popular anymore but people will only read One Piece as an exception.

I caught up on some fairy tale today and it looks like that might be near the end as well judging by what's going on.
So this manga finished today, bleach/naruto are on the edge (naruto for sure, bleach looks very much like it) and fairy tale is heading in that direction.
Those have been the really big, long lasting titles (that I know of) for the past several years.
Anything good replacing those? I don't follow manga very much anymore. The only really good manga I follow other than One Piece is Attack on Titan, but that releases so damn slow it's not even worth it.

I'm not really into shounen manga (especially the looong ones) but one exception and something worth checking out is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Started in 1987 it's likely to go on as long as the author is alive, it has turned into a genre on its own by now.

Really gonna miss this. They could've kept on going I'm sure...maybe if there was more to the story...
But anyway,it was a fun ride and the cast of characters were quite interesting too. Hard to believe it's been 12 years...
As for other manga, maybe I'll get back into Toriko, since that seems to still be running and updating weekly. :thumb:

I started getting into mangas like Tsuyokute New Saga and Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, where the protagonist gets to redo his life or is thrown into a fantasy dimension. Mushoku Tensei and Re:Monster are light novels in a similar vein that have also been pretty interesting to read, although they're pretty perverted. I would suggest reading the translation of Mushoku Tensei if you get bored and you haven't read it yet:

Toriko, that's the only other manga I keep up with (cept battle angel but dat update lag). Toriko is a good shonen fighting (cooking) series. I also keep up with HunterXHunter whenever that's updated.

Seems all the really good manga I like have ridiculous release schedules.
There's battle angel that's an old favorite of mine but I just had to stop from lack of patience for updates.
Attack on Titan I'm on the verge of dropping.
Then there was Gantz that also took forever, I ended up quitting years ago then picked it back up when the manga finally ended.
I know they're on monthly releases instead of weekly, but you would expect that to change if the series becomes popular enough.

Seriously felt beyond rushed to me though.
I did not expect the end at all.
You have chapter 582 that finishes up the big battle that I won't spoil too much, in which you expect any number of things to happen because plenty of the enemy are still in fighting condition, including the super strong big boss guy who was fighting with the elder on that island for ages.
Then suddenly chapter 583 comes and BAM, end of story.
I have a strong suspicion it was cancelled, and they had the author end it ASAP.

I know it's rushed but I think they covered most of the plots, except the thing about Kensei, that was not covered at all.
Again if you haven't seen it yet, read Toriko.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's canceled.
Overall, manga sales have gone down. Most people in Japan only read One Piece and maybe a different Shonen Jump manga like Naruto/Fairy Tail.
Attack on Titan has just started being popular last year.
