As a newbie there are always other skills that would be worth investing your AP into, such as Combat Mastery & Def so consider the long term.
I would disagree with half of this. As for the other part, I do agree on ranking combat mastery, but definitely don't waste too much APs on it. Keep it at r9 or something.
I find defense to be pretty useless, heck, I have it at rE. Sure, it'll provide you with some extra defense, but as a mage, there isn't really a point in using defense since 1. you'll probably be dead if you actually need to defend against a monster, 2. mana shield is active, or 3. the monster is too weak to actually do anything. IIRC, Oraciondark is using RK armor and wand + shield, anyways. The auto defense is useful as you won't be knock back in certain occasion which will prevent him from losing magic charges, which is vastly superior to defense, as def is an active skill and magic charges cannot be kept when defense is use.

Regarding the original topic, I have to agree with what everyone else said. Int magic isn't a priority at this point, since magic fusion will be your most versatile spell, and will make up for the lack of int magic. Although, working to collect int magic isn't a bad thing now -it's actually a good thing- but just not number one on your list. (I'm pretty sure you know this, but I'm just going to reinforce it once more. Don't work on fighter at the same time as magic. Magic is a HUGE AP sink and working on two talents will only weaken your damage as a mage)
Fusion bolt is VERY versatile, despite being underrated.
Ice + Fire Fusion is basically the cheaper version of CC firebolt. Single target, and high damage. (but will decrease after bolt charges are used.)
Lightning + Ice is similar to thunder in certain aspects. It allows you to attack multiple targets, multiple times, and since bolts fired independently (other than amount of targets) from one another, the chances of landing a critical hit is too. (Which reminds me that I forgot to mention critical hit skill as a priority on your other thread. derp.)
Lightning + Fire fusion is basically a weaker version of fireball. If you're planning to do a fireball/firebolt/blaze fighting style, you can use this as an alternative until you have all the fireball pages. The speed bonus from the phoenix fire wand upgrade also applies to the fire part of this fusion.
Heck, you can basically run around using fusion bolts in HM SMs and be still fine. Just make sure to rank all the bolts and magic weapon mastery.
Good luck maging! [/UB]
