i was talking to my mom about how ray rice had punched his wife (she was his fiance at the time of the assault) and she kept telling me that his wife was stupid and shouldn't have married him if she knew he had punched her
she wouldn't listen to me when i said some women are far too scared to leave an abusive man. she kept telling me that she could have left and should have instead of just letting it go and marrying him.
what are all your thoughts?

I think both are right to some extent. Though I wouldn't call them stupid for it.
They probably are too scared to outright leave, in fear they might come after them. At the same time I think it's a shame they don't realize there's a lot of people out there who would help if they just asked.

He's rich and famous, yo.
It's probably the main reason why she wanted to be with him in the first place, and that hasn't changed. Of course, fear plays a role as well. Then again, we have no idea what their relationship really was like. Media reports = bullshit and tbh I don't care either way. xd

We see the same behavior in all social classes though, abusive men and abused women too scared to get our or seek help.
