Light armor + dex things

Planning into going into the dex skill trees (archery -> puppets)

What's the best light armor in terms of def/prot or both damage and def/prot? (upgraded). As for the enchant aspect, i would probably do it if it's under rank5 because it hurts me to break things :c

I enjoy being a fashionogi so i dont have a lot of money to spend. Also, I have around ~100 cats eyes and is also wondering if lunar dragon armor is good.

If you lack sufficient funds, just grab one of those Quartz Darkness Linen Cuirass that the Prairie Dragon drops which are ~300k give or take. It gives a good amount of dmg.

However, I'd recommend something different. Since you're going to do archery, you're most likely going to main it over puppets. With that said, I would recommend a bohemian set if you can run around without armor. I understand this could be hard if you have low defense, but I think it's worth it. As for enchants, use quartz glass fragment for the bodywear. Use these enchants if you chose to use the lunar armor as well.

i dont really "lack sufficient funds" it's just i usually blow my money on fashion items so i dont expect to have a lot of money left to spend on equips :c

also im not very comfortable being squishy (it's the reason why i left my first character who's an elf mage) so i want to see what others use so i can get an idea on what i want for myself.

You know, an elf mage can be less squishier than an archer/puppeteer, since you'll be allowed to wear heavy armor + shield with almost 0 penalties. On a related note, I'll tell you that people who use mostly archery/puppets use something along these lines:
x2 Oblivion Swarming or Precise Lily Acc
Oblivion Dexterity Bohemian Hat
Encore Ambush(maybe?) Bohemian Wear
Solo/Classical/Oblivion Camo/Elementalist Bohemian Band
Solo/Oblivion Camo/Hard Peaca Bohemian Shoes
r5/6 Glorious/Lion Hunter's Thorn Lotus/Raven HLB, Bhafel Combo or BDK's Bow
r5/6 Carved Colossal Demonic Control Bars

^ The set above will obviously going to cost a fortune to make.

The general trend for good enchants is max damage, as nothing else really matters. You can use light armor for now, but you'll switch over to a bohemian set sooner or later.
My recommendation would be to use a Quartz Glass Fragment light armor for now, until you can run around without armor.

Light Armor won't help with "being squishy".

The only feature of Heavy Armor that makes it worth using is auto-defense, namely melee auto-defense as it negates stun and 50% of incoming damage upon activation. Kelvas is right on target.

I see that most archers use solo or other bard enchants. Does that mean I should go bard as well?

Also id like to know if SoG is a thing. I tried doing it but it only hits sometimes. I've also done it in the past and shot something out of range ONCE but it feels like a placebo or whatever it's called

Yup, a lot of archers are bards to some extent, as maintaining Battlefield Overture and the usage of Lullaby are extremely useful. Speaking of which, Lullaby has the potential to help with your squishy problem. I would recommend for you to rank song r5, and rank BFO and Lullaby if you have extra APs.

SoG is a thing. It's a bit hard to do with lag, but it is possible. However, out of range SoG is no longer possible, you likely had position lag when you did it. This reminds me one of the reasons why I quit working on my elf. Skill lag was killing me, but after disable nagle's algorithm and change my MTU to 256 while on Mabinogi, SoG became a LOT easier for me, and I missed less often.

I would say a r1 BDK's Bow since it's the 2nd until you can have character screen max damage of 680. Investing in a HLB will cost you a ton more if you plan on reforging and r5/6'ing it. If you're on Alexina, a clean one is ~2M and a r1 is ~4M.

If you're planning to stick with archery for a long time, you may as well invest in a good HLB. If you have the extra funds to spare, I guess you can get an ele 6 BDK bow first (they're around 8~10m on Alexina.)

An ele 6 step 5/6 HLB goes for 15m~20m.[/FONT]
