  I dont get it either, but I mean, if it wasnt for the guide saying it...then it could have just meant that she was stuck with Baam down wherever that was and wanted to escape from him, and the tower was the only exit available, but I dont know..

  I disagree with you guys. I can sympathize with Rachel on this. Have you guys never experienced jealousy in your life? Never felt jealous that that kid got the toy you always wanted? Maybe your best friend and coworker is a super lazy dude and you are hardworking to the bone, yet he got the promotion that was rightfully yours? Or perhaps someone who doesn't study at all passed the test you failed, despite you studying everyday, at most hours, during the past few months?
  
  Well, that's what I think. Baam was always a bit too creepy for my taste. I still wonder why he was chasing her with that butcher knife...

  And I mean, its different, because he wants Rachel to make it to the top, the only reason they were in that test was because Baam was trying to get her to the top...I mean, its like he studied for hours on a test while she did nothing, with the sole intention of transferring all that information from his head to hers, then she killed him. ...or something, that doesnt really make sense.

  No problem, I believe the author used a common human trait instead of some super tearjerking flashback in order to break away from cliches. I mean, would everyone have expected THAT to be Rachel's reasons? Plus it worked, at least for me it did. owo

  But defend from what? No other creatures have been shown in the panels were Baam and Rachel were together. The only one that has appeared is one where Rachel is being pulled by her hair in a rather painful way.
  
  That was after though. It's a fact that Baam got what Rachel desired even though he was only chasing after her. You are also forgetting Rachel's fear of Baam. In the first chapters, Evan (Ranked 100 [High Ranker], Zahard's Royal Guide) said that Baam was dangerous and warned Yuri about the potential danger. What makes you think that something that's dangerous for a person that has already climbed the tower, that is a high ranker, that is ranked 100 out of all 1000 high ranker, or that is a high ranker Princess [500] wouldn't scare the crap out of a normal person? I sure as hell would piss my pants if I were to face something that even Chuck Norris thinks is dangerous. :U
