How Badly Do You Want Maid/Butler Hair? - Page 1 | Questions & Help

So let's uh, pretend that theoretically, somebody were to develop a mod to allow you to select normally-unobtainable hair, both in rebirth and the dressing room. This would be made with the intention of letting people choose maid/butler hair again, but has a number of drawbacks and concerns.

I'm pretty interested in people's thoughts on such a mod, so...

It costs 5 pon for almost every unobtainable hairstyle (other than a few NPC ones marked as 0 for some reason) because they're not-starter-hair and that's how the system is set up. So depending on how the rebirth system works nowadays, you might end up paying 5 pon every time you rebirth to re-select the hair each time, since Nexon's servers are discarding the "I'm wearing it already" character info.

Question 1: Would you be willing to pay the 5 pon per rebirth if it came down to that?
This is not just the way you look on your end, the theoretical mod allows you to change your character outside of what the client normally allows by simply making the special hair show up in the list where it'd normally be hidden. You may be paying real pon for the change, but you're still not supposed to be able to get those because they're hidden, so it's still unauthorized.

On the one hand Nexon is aware of how people want maid/butler hair and you would actually be paying pon for it (at least once), and when people got guns early Nexon's response was just "Don't buy from them or try to exploit it, guns will be out in a few days anyways, silly players". On the other hand they could easily take a heavy-handed approach to this anyways.

Question 2: Would you risk a ban or suspension to get/keep maid/butler hair, hoping that Nexon has a soft spot and/or overlooks it because you're actually paying for it (or just never notices you in general)?
This same type of mod would allow the selection of more than just maid/butler hair. NPC hair, unreleased crossover content (FMA hair, 2NE1 stuff), etc. If it exists as hair and fits on your race/gender, it appears to be selectable.

Do note that being able to choose actual NPC hair would drive the prices of NPC wigs down as people could just choose the hair and then have the added benefit of wearing a hat or glasses or ears on top, which wigs don't allow.

Question 3: Would you want this to be released, knowing that other people could theoretically use it to get things that never were obtainable in NA to begin with?

Banned by illegal fashionogi.... The thing you're describing is a pretty cool "concept" though

I am fine with my character's hairstyle so I don't care much for it. Personally to me the Kirito wig is a nice alternative to the Butler hair, eventhough it looks a bit different. I personally never ever have and never ever plan to use mods, especially not one such as this that basically hacks the game and may risk me getting banned, even if I had really wanted the butler hair.

Still don't get why Nexon can't just them back in as an option though. =/

Not interested at all. I like the simple style I chose at the character creation.

Also, don't quote me on this, but I vaguely remember that it's devCAT's decision that they don't want them to be available, at least for now.

Even though I don't use mods... I would actually like the idea of this.

I don't know whether to be happy that it's possible to get the hair back, or to be upset that Nexon can't do a simple patch to include it for everyone.

I want maid hair, but I'm not about to pay 5 pons every week and risk getting banned over it.

The server rejects that purchase attempt specifically because on their end, maid and butler hair is not tagged as being able to go on any player races, only "humanpet" (the engine term for maids and butlers). They would need to mod their server data files (and push out a client patch), which would be overwritten/undone when they get their next update from KR (as the purchase issue is not a features.xml toggle), so they'd need to get KR to change the base data to allow maid/butler hair for everybody if they wanted this to work fluidly.

Well people who want flashy hair or hair in colors not obtainable through character creation would still pay for those.
Unless Nexon adds a RGB hair color selection method to that, of course.

I prefer if they just give like Maid/Butler wigs. I usually use wigs nowadays since they are so much more flexible.

Pretty sure you'd just release a method to get yourself banned and cause huge trouble for everyone involved.

That's a good point.

Hair colors are set via IDs (an index in a list) of color codes, so devcat would have to develop an alternate system for hair coloring, which I don't see happening for multiple reasons. Like they'd need to set the hair for all the NPCs, racial color restrictions would be harder to keep, etc.

Well outside of color, I consider hair more flexible. Takes up no inventory space, and you can wear things with glasses/ears/hats that you can't do with wigs.

If such a mod would exist i would probably use it just once to get my miku hair back and never touch it again.

idrc if they ban me for doing this because i already paid for the hair with a miku card. Why can't i have it back? i paid for it :c i just didn't realize the consequence of changing hairstyle for a week. There was no wigs back then.

i'd like to know if nexon will do mass banning because everyone mods to rebel after one person got banned from this.
