So I recently purchased a new modem because my other one was faulty, my internet is constantly going in and out. I went to reset it today and the bottom was very hot to the touch. I think this might be my problem but I'm unsure, but I have no idea how to keep it cool.

It's normal I think. You may try putting it on a surface that allows a better airflow, like wood or something.

it's normal for a modem to be hot underneath
if you put it on something where it can get more airflow will help
when i used to use a modem, we would put it on a tiny wire basket and it was fine

Small compact fans also do wonders. Usually can find them in Targets/Walmarts for like ~$20. Keeps our modem very cool.

Did you try putting it in the fridge? YOU DIDN'T? I have some spare sunglasses you could put on it as well.
