There's actually a law in my city where people aren't allowed to sit on the sidewalk downtown.
(which of course, wasn't enforced on the lines in front of the apple store for the new iphone)

The town I work in now has a lot of poor people sitting near the station, among which are also quite a lot of children.
I occasionally share part of my meal with those people. (Well, sandwiches and cookies).
If the cops someday tell me to stop doing that, I'm gonna cry, probably.

Apparently, feeding them gives them an incentive to stay on the streets, since they're really only there due to lack of motivation and laziness. Several states have laws like this on the books, somehow.

As an update the 90 year old man was arrested again the day after he was released for continuing to try to feed more homeless people.
