Max Firebolt Damage you ever got?

So basically switch to using my combat set I use for every other damage based skillset (Ninja/Gunner/Melee/Lance). I'll see how much damage I do with it when I use my combat set instead of the magic attack set. I always operated under the assumption that magic attack based stuff worked better for magic. Either way, probably won't dick with changing the enchants on those as I've already spent more than enough money and effort to do just that bit >.>

Yes, it was a small difference but I think I noticed it, I could be wrong though.

Pretty much. Enchanting for magic attack is extremely inefficient, since it'll only make a small difference for blaze and that already kills everything ever with just reforges. Maybe if devcat had thought to make magic attack enchants x4 like every other magic damage did during enlightenment things would be different...

Either way... strictly firebolt wise, 10 max damage (enchant) is the same as 8 magic attack. This is the same reason why battlefield overture affects firebolt to begin with, since the +damage from overture is added as enchant damage so if you have very high character screen damage before battlefield it's like getting a large magic attack boost.

Well I switched up my gear slightly (Replaced most of the magic gear with my combat gear I use for Gunner/Ninja/Melee):

Oblivion Avenger accessory x2
Conceptual Avenger Dustin Armor
Oblivion Viscount Dustin Greaves
Amnesia Camo Rosemary Gloves

Left Shield, Wand and Circlet alone (Will re-enchant the circlet at a later time)

And with the same test as before (43% Overature + Weapon Potion) this was the result instead:

So yes I see the difference pretty clear there. I'll have to swap the enchants on that circlet later on to wrap that up.

Title wise, is there anything that can trump +90 Magic Attack and +2% Bolt Damage? Probably not I'm assuming.

title wise nope, but hey.. if u dont mind using more mp on firebolt cooking pot would probably increase dmge abit more. potential 60 max dmge from pot with Oblivion Alteration Max dmge lv 20 reforge

Oblivion Swarming is ~12 magic attack worth, and the 40 max from reforge is likely weapon damage and not enchant damage so it probably would do nothing.

Under battlefield though, 26~50% of that total 54 max + the original 14 max from the enchants would definitely far outclass the eagle mask.

And no, unless we get the casting speed stack that KR has it wouldn't be worth it to use vivace over battlefield. And even we do get it, who would want to inconvenience everyone else for only their sake.

I was under the impression we had the casting speed fix (I fire slightly, but perceptibly faster when I use just r1 Vivace and when my INT goes up) already, it's just that NA latency prevents us from ever getting the speed that KR boasts. And that's why I said if it could at all be helped, aka if you're solo, your party is all mages, or your positioned far enough away that overture only affects you.

Not sure where you are pulling that 54 max from, can you elaborate? The 14 max from enchants part I get.

I sped the video up a little but this is the result of testing firebolt with and without bone chip with no gears except ego firewand. If you watch it all you can see that the end result are the same. Same critical damage.

I think the bone chip is like what obe said about the reforge, it's probably weapon damage and not enchant damage so it does nothing to firebolt.

Cooking pot can get lv 20 max damage reforge (40 max). Which PROBABLY does not affect firebolt directly, but that's 40 more damage that gets added to the calculation for battlefield overture bonus.

Well I'd rather not waste another $100 - $300 on reforges testing out something that may or may not work, fuck that. Is the 14 damage increase enough to justify switching out to that cooking pot over the loss of the mana regen and 300MP?

It's not 14 damage, it's 14 damage + 26~50% (bfo) of potential 54 extra damage. And that's assuming the 40 max from reforge do not apply as enchant damage, if it does then it would outclass the eagle mask for damage any time but I wouldn't be too hopeful on that being the case. It could also be even more damage with that new enchant (amnesia) instead of oblivion.

Granted, everyone here is giving ideas to maximize damage like you asked... even if they're not cost efficient or practical, they're still ideas and relevant to the topic.

As for the eagle mask... mana regen and -mp is nice but firebolt eats through MP too fast for it to matter all that much since you'll be potting anyway unless you plan to stack all possible regen buffs and spam 0 mp firebolt at night. Also, the +300 MP is actually what I hate most about the eagle shield because all it does is fool me into thinking I don't have to pot yet but then if I switch weapon slots it cancels my mana shield or blocks me from using shooting rush and I end up dead.

well surprisingly the 10 mediation regen thing did a good job making that +300mp last that much longer. I may go back and throw better enchants on that...

For me, using eagle mask actually makes firebolt more cost effective because even if you pot a lot anyway, you're shooting more firebolts per pot than you would be otherwise, not to mention if you do run out of pots you can keep shooting because of the good old 1 charge cost firebolt glitch (?).

Also the larger mana pool and lower MP usage is absolutely critical when trying to kite with Spellwalk.
