aniel Holtzclaw, the Oklahoma City police officer arrested in August and charged with sexually abusing eight black women, has supporters online who have raised more than $7,000, according to MLive.com.
According to the Raw Story, the 27-year-old cop is facing charges of "rape, forcible oral sodomy, sexual batter and indecent exposure" for allegedly assaulting women he encountered while on patrol. Prosecutors say Holtzclaw frequently stopped black woman between the ages of 34 and 58 "and threatened to arrest them or physically harm them unless they exposed themselves, allowed him to fondle them or had sex with him."
Holtzclaw, who has been an officer with the Oklahoma City Police Department for three years, is being held on $5 million bond, and friends and family have created a Facebook page called "Justice for Daniel Holtzclaw," the Raw Story reports.
According to the Raw Story, Holtzclaw's supporters have used the Facebook page to rally support for the officer, who they believe has been falsely charged based on erroneous allegations.
The page has received some 500 likes and also offers T-shirts for sale that read "Free the Claw" and "#JusticeForDanielHoltzclaw." There is also a crowdfunding page created by Holtzclaw's sister on the website GoFundMe. She hopes to raise $100,000 for her brother's legal defense; so far the site has netted $7,390.
"The pursuit of justice will be lengthy, but with the support of family, friends and the community, Daniel Holtzclaw will be vindicated and justice will prevail," the GoFundMe page reads. "All funds raised will assist Daniel and his family as they seek the justice Daniel Holtzclaw so rightly deserves."

They want justice for him? The funds they're raising should be for the lawyers of the victims.

It's hard to take the article seriously when you can buy 500 likes for $5 and the last time #JusticeForDanielHoltzclaw was used was in Sept. There's less than 100 tweets using the hashtag and 80% is Daniel's sister.
I'm a bit glad this case didn't gain popularity unlike the Trayvon Martin case where main stream news endorsed donations and support for Zimmerman.

Has he already been convicted or just charged? If he hasn't been convicted yet there's still the possibility he's innocent in which case raising money for his defense is fine. You know, that whole innocent until proven guilty thing? A lot of people hate cops now-a-days, and it wouldn't be the first time a woman has made a false rape accusation, just saying.

It's several women, so unless they're all in on it I doubt it's some elaborate plot to get him in jail.

True. Although I think we should maintain he is innocent until proven guilty.

The problem with that rape is an extremely hard crime to convict because most of the time it's one person's word against the other but this time 8 women have come forward which is a lot more damning.

It does look that way. Honestly I have irrational dislike of cops so maybe I am over-correcting, by trying to stay objective I am giving him too much credit.

Doesn't matter, it'll be decided by a jury that's half people who don't give a fuck and half who are biased, and of course the media.
There is no truth in law, only people who are convinced one story makes more sense than the other.

If they don't have any proof between the 8 of them, I doubt he did it.
