Okay, I'm fucking sick of this quest. I've burned like 10 soul stones on it and I just can't do it. The goddamm NPCs are so useless. Girgashiy grabs me? They fuck around and do nothing, so I get hit. It uses the soul steal thing? They fuck around and do nothing, while the soul half the time just ignores me hitting it and runs into Girgashiy anyway. I cannot complete this fucking quest because the moment it gets below 25% it does the soul steal which I have absolutely no way to stop, and insta-kills me, healing itself.
How the hell are you supposed to finish this godawful stupid mission solo?
I've tried using aggro pets to beat the Soul Absorb but for some reason even my strongest pets seem to do no more than like 5 damage per hit to this thing.

I'm not sure how 'exploity' this is, but if you have a good ranked Dischord, I recommend for the soul part:
1) Have an instrument that can use Dischord equipped in one of your equip slots.
2) Once he enters the phase (HP %-wose) where he can start using Soul Absorption, do not use attacks that leave you immobile, like Smash/Flash Launcher.
3) Run away as soon as he starts the attack to get as much distance possible between your soul and the Girgashiy.
4) As soon as your soul appears, Dischord it, then hit it 3 times (at least with a lute-speed weapon anyways), and no more after that.
This will cause the soul to stop for a moment, and then resume its approach to the Girgashiy under the effects of Dischord's movement speed debuff.
If you don't hit it again its movement speed won't update to normal speed, even once dischord's effects have ended. (sort of like how you have to click again to update your speed after you, yourself, have been dischorded and it has worn off)
So if you've done it like this, the soul will be some distance from girgashiy and moving VERY slowly.
It won't be stopped completely, but hopefully it should give you the time to manually end the girgashiy's attack.
And as for the grabby part, just have a pet out on Command and order it to attack the girgashiy.
Should only need 3 or so attacks to end the grab, and most pets can do that, like the free thoroughbred.

Pets definitely help for when he grabs you; as for soul absorption... Just burst out as much dmg as you can do; using windmill every other moment will keep him on the ground also.
You can also have your pet aggro your clone to keep him stationary.
What do you use as your main form of dmg if I may ask?

I've tried setting pets to aggro the clone, but they refuse to attack it regardless of my AI settings. My primary DPS is magnum spamming, though I'm considering switching to CC Firebolt + Lifedrain in my primary and an instrument secondary to do that Discord trick (sounds like it could be really helpful, thanks Iya). I had also considered pulling out a doll bag to summon puppets, see if they're better at consistently wailing on Girgashiy than those stupid Holy Knights.

Pets and NPCs, including Rag Dolls and Mercenaries, will never attack the soul.
If you're doing Magnum spam, then yeah keep your distance.

Ahhhh, my bad; I didn't know that. I just used way of the gun for the final stretch...

Keeping my distance winds up going poorly unfortunately, since he invariably just jumps on me with Mineral Hail and winds up too far from the Knights for them to be of any use. I could give finishing with WOTG a shot, though I might have to see if someone I know has a strong gun I could borrow. Thanks for the tips guys, gonna give it another shot later today.

Update: Discord is super-op against Soul Absorption. Can't use firebolt for DPS because I'm 900% sure there is no way to not get massively potion-poisoned in that fight. Abusing bone dragon summon + chips and spinning uppercut also sped things up a lot. Thanks for the help y'all!

I got by with life drain. Only content where you'll consistently lose a lot of hp and need to gain it back in a short period of time.

My problem was that he spammed contagion basically every other attack. Between the life drain cooldown and getting hit with mineral hail so often, it just couldn't keep up.

It took me a while to pass this section too. I gave up using nao stones after the first two runs. P:
Instead, I kept redoing the mission until I got one where Girgashiy didn't fly towards me as much on the last leg with soul absorption. Using AR really helped not to have to charge a skill every time the soul wanted to move and gives time for you to move away bit by bit.
