[S]You can typically return games/software so long as it's not been opened and you have the receipt. I don't see why Gamestop would be any different.[/S]
Just noticed there was a mix-up with the receipts. xd Most stores would print a recept if you lost it, some will charge for the service. As for returning a different item of the same type with another's receipt... I am curious how that will go. With some stores/items, you absolutely cannot do this since the serial number is listed on the receipt and the stores do check to make sure they match as a way to prevent fraud. With video games, I don't think they have S/Ns, so perhaps it will work out. Be sure to post an update once you've tried. o/

you can't return the cousin's copy to gamestop because they keep special barcode stickers and whatnot

Exactly what I want to try out.

Unlike other Game Stop games, the Persona Q's barcode is the exact same one with one another.
[spoiler="The barcode that Gamestop scanned. There's no other Barcode- like the sticker barcodes they'd usually use."]

If the two are identical, you should have no issues whatsoever, assuming your old receipt's date is still within the return period as per the store's policy.
I wouldn't bother explaining the whole thing to them, as the people working there are not the brightest and they might think it's a bigger problem than it really is... If they ask you why you're returning it, I'd suggest you put yourself in your cousin's situation, basically telling them that you bought it for someone but they already had a copy. [S]Or just be a cute girl and those nerds will do whatever you want.[/S]

That's the plan :p I'm planning to go this week. But it may look weird since on my receipt I have something else I returned as well. But I'm still planning to explain the situation- but put myself in my cousin's shoes. LOL.
Weird enough, but the last 2 peeps working as cash registers were all females.

Girls don't usually last long at gamestop. They get tired of all the desperate nerds that come in hitting on them all day.
At least in my experience knowing people who work there.

OKAY. UPDATE.
So today, I toughed up and went to GameStop. With my receipt and my cousin's copy of Persona Q and returned it.
Flawless. No issues. No questions asked.
Wow, I was being a chicken for nothing.

A lot of people panic over nothing. It's no problem, so don't sweat it!
