OK, that's kind of a lie, I did spend about $30 back in g3 to get a mountable pet but that's when I didn't know better.
So first I'd like to post my gear:
armor set

accs
puu.sh/fpSpp/ae68ee99bf.png
weapons
puu.sh/fpSw5/11268680eb.jpg
that I use.
At the beginning:
Stuff you need:
Mod up your game with abyss COUGH COUGH(you need it).
wiki.mabinogiworld.com will be your best friend 5ever.
This phase is long and grindy but most importantly is to make a lot of friends that are willing to help out. Stay in active channels and meet people. Get them to help you with quests, ranking skills and also keeping you motivated. This takes a very long time.
- Most players quit here lol... but players made it pass here tend to stay and love the game.
After you have some stats and skills ranked:
Start out with basic enchants and basic weapons. Keep your cost to minimum. Join public raids, MA runs, elite missions to earn a lot of gold. Set up shops with lucky things you get.
Rank puppets(imo) after you finish with core skills to become instantly relevant. I'm still using basic control bars....
At this point you should have a lot of gold saved up(not really meant for archers).
The short route is start by focusing on an armor set instead of randomly enchanting gear. I chose thames cause you want to show people that you can do damage.
Thames set is some what expensive if you want to run a 10/10 set, so just stick with getting the smash points.
Get lucky deal with boots.
Enchant rA and r9 enchants only at the beginning. Use crit and balance enchants at the beginning very important.
Armor, helm, and gauntlets should be 600k in total 3 smash boots might be 1m but that's about the most you'll ever spend.
Stick with basic/cheap enchants.
Invest in a lance preferably secret pene knight lance step 5 it(don't worry about step 6 for now).
I can't disclose secret about special upgrade but I'm sure most people know about it(ask around :D).
Important other things people need to do.
- Don't worry about looks in the beginning, I wore a fucking penguin robe(that I still have) until I finished all my gear and nothing else to spend gold on.
- Abuse nexon events VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
- reforge events, make loads of alts
- hot time alts(multi-client...WHAT? nothing... >.>)
- Free pet events get them!!!
- Join pro guild after recognition(very political so don't fuck about it)
- Show up for runs.... just do it... so free these raids.
- at some point in time, you'll need to rank life skills(commerce mastery..etc) rank them
- Don't go for high repair cost enchants(not until you are end game).
- MERCH!!!!! rip those noobs off, I don't like to sugarcoat things, they needs to learn.
- BARGAIN with people, buy low sell high if you see fit, learn about your market.
- meet new people, make more friends. Some would love you but others would hate you, not everyone is gonna understand you. Bottom line is, You only need to find the one or two people that will fucking stick with you till the end of time and take care of them. SO DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE ENEMIES!!!
- Update gear with money you make. They say the more damage you do the more you make.
- do saga for free pet
- Get lucky.....
Now you are relevant as an average player BUT NOT end game at all.
- Meet people that sells cheap nx and reforges(ugly truth)
- save up the nx to buy pets for now, then reforges.
- Getting good weapons:
step 6 really important for free players since we don't use reforges that often. SO step up or step out mate ;D...
- ele 2 is fine on a lance.
- don't enchant protect for r6- enchants, just buy several of the same armor.
- Spam giant sandworm(so underrated but I make sooo much money selling violent/fierce)
- that's my secret...
- Enchants, Go look up damage modifiers on wiki.
- conflict spam, saga 2 episode 6 with finest potent.
Continue this for about a year or two play actively for about 3 hours or less then afk(you really don't but time is important). Then suddenly one day you're end game player in the community.
That's what I did for the most part, now I can pretty buy w/e I want in game without using real life(omg what's real life haha) money. I bought all my reforges and nx with gold. My damage is crap for the most part(speaking to the pro players), but my smash is pretty top notch in my server imo. Clear speed is easy with ninja and puppets. All that took along time(started around g3), but I'm glad I still have things left to do in this game after all.
End note: Play your game however you want that's just what I did.

Your definition of end game gear and my definition of end game gear is very different. I'd consider this more of a mid game gear.
I guess I have just higher standards.
But yeah, you don't need tons of real life money to get gears. All the gears that I have equipped are bought with in game gold. Granted, I did get lucky with few Succubus bodywear and White Dragon Heart, I can't really say I spent much on this game, probably max of 150 over the course of few years.
In fact, when you do get true end game gear, you really won't have spent THAT much money. Why? Most of the end game enchants aren't from gachapons. Champion? Backbreaking? Solo? Burlesque? None of these.
Generally spending gold is the more efficient way than real money, but more grinding involved. It's still not terrible though.
Also, I cannot emphasize raids enough, especially White Dragon or Black Dragon.

I strongly agree. This doesn't look end-game at all to me either from my standpoint. [/FONT]

Ya I agree, most of my gear/weapon isn't end game. It's just my misunderstanding on end game. However you best believe I'll reach end game at one point.

Shorter version:
1. Spam saga 2-6 with crystals before it gets patched.
2. Buy all the pre-enchanted/pre-reforged gear you need with saga 2-6 profits before it gets patched.
3. Use all the damage/ability you now have to bot saga 4 or run npc for AP/gold after saga 2-6 gets patched.

Short version looks about right, just that for my server, r1 thames parts is pretty rare and people who does have it usually keep it since it's their main set. To follow through on my reply earlier, I just got solo on my boots. Nothing much but it's one step closer :).
Had to break my 3/3 thames boots to get it on this one:

Skimmed through the post, but my definition of endgame is
Max stats for your main talent
Using best enchants
Using the most efficient weapon for your talent
Reforging everything on your set

wow been out for so long i didn't know saga 2-6 is the new farm.thanks for this info.
@topic yep did the same thing played mabi actively for more than a year without a single $ but during the free weekly rebirth patch i started to be inactive. Not that i hate it but for me the game became a lot easier. Was fun leveling, ranking then farming gold for gears and rb nx every week and its just not the same with free rb patch.I started playing again last week but my only goal at the moment is to buy the new doll bags lol.

one word...
saga.

Rebirth every week, do some leveling. Rank up skills.
Basically, never quit the game.
Why would you call gloves/boots with Oblivion end-game when there is Solo enchant? The "end-game" equipment you have doesn't look very end-game...

Step 1: Be hardcore.
Step 2: Play game nonstop since 2008
Step 3: Continue to play game until it burns
Only way to become true endgame.
OT: Not a bad setup for having not spent any(much) money. I know people float around saying they don't spend money here and there and whatever but I never really met people ingame who were "good" and didn't spend some form of money (especially on rebirths).

Wow thanks for all the attention, looks like I clearly used the term end game incorrectly. Regardless I hope this guide is helping out a few out there. Like I stated I can't use that much r6 and below enchants, so I pretty much have to just blow everything up. If it succeeds great if not I go find more pieces to my armor and enchant again. I seem to be pretty lucky with r5s lately and got solos on both my boots and my gloves. Just takes a lot of time for me to get the reforge part of my gear done. They are around 250k~300k in my server at the moment so definitely gotta save up a lot of money for that investment.
I hope everyone can get as lucky as I am sometimes. Since it is a big part of playing for free xD. We must pray to our RNG gods!!!
