i got a question about the new trowing attack of giants's
i read in patch the ranged skill thread that trowing attack got 2400 range is this real?
also the 5 STR gave (1max ---0.5min dmg) whats the new dmg rate per STR
(also if any 1 knows the new stun time that would be great)
tnx in advance
Bone Atlatl has a base range of 1,800. Feather and Wood have 1,500.
1st and 2nd upgrades can give +100 more range, for +200. Bone Atlatl exclusive.
3rd upgrade gives +200.
A separate 4th upgrade gives +200.
In all that's +600 from upgrades, which is 2,400 range max with Bone Atlatl and 1,900 with Feather and Wood.
Old Strength:Damage Ratio: 5 Str = 1 max, 10 str = 1 min.
New Strength:Damage Ratio: 3 Str = 1 max, 5 str = 1 min.
The stun time is unknown since it's not in client-sided data mines. It's nearly impossible to pinpoint what it is.

Alright so I worked with Kapra and he got me a packet log of elf ranged combat in KR for comparison. Here's the comparison of packets that the client sends to the server (compared to my elf in NA) along with relevant additional data in them.
-- NA:
Change Stance (1)
Set Target (4767482418224830, 0, NULL STRING)
Skill Prepare (21001)
Skill Ready (21001)
Start Aim (4767482418224830, 19040)
Get Stun Meter (4767482418224830)
Attack (4767482418224830, NULL)
Skill Complete (21001)
-- KR:
Change Stance (1)
Set Target (4767482418076870, 0, NULL STRING)
Skill Prepare (21001)
Skill Ready (21001)
Start Aim (4767482418076870)
Get Stun Meter (4767482418076870)
Attack (4767482418076870, NULL)
Skill Complete (21001)
The only technical difference I can see is in "Start Aim" (which is NOT when you fire), where the KR log actually has less information than the NA packet (the NA packet contains an additional 2 bytes of undetermined use).
So... I see no evidence that aiming is client-side in KR because there does not seem to be any point where the KR client tells the server what the aim was for the shot they just fired.

Thanks for the info Rydian. That is rather unfortunate. I have heard some good things about aiming in KR, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out for ourselves.

If you heard that from KR players then it's no surprise....
KR haz better interwebz than NA, they don't have that weird Client->Server Lag where the Client shows you having 100% even tho the server still is at like 80% or whatever xD

Rydian wrote on 2015-02-17 04:17
As somebody mentioned earlier, KR is a much smaller landmass than NA, even if their internet was the same as ours they'd have inherently less distance in most cases so even though the server/client aiming difference exists, it's likely much more minimal.

Tetosan wrote on 2015-02-17 13:26
tbh, American Internet simply is bad. That has nothing to do with it being a bigger Landmass o.o
I sometimes watch a Let's Player who, together with others, went to America for a half year and worked from there, they got a nice house and appearently one of the best Internets available. They complained 3 Times how slow everything works and how they can simply not upload all their Let's Play Projects anymore due to the upload speed being horrible.
Another thing is that many Americans complain about lag and that it's their distance to the server.
Meanwhile, here i am. Playing from Switzerland with the worst connection available, generally lag-free. XD
Please do not try to tell me it's the Distance ^^''

As a computer tech, I can tell you that a longer distance connection will always have more ping than a shorter connection
using the same setup and hardware. It's physics.
The bolded part is the important part because that part varies so much that it is easy for somebody a longer distance away to have a better connection than somebody a shorter distance if, for example, there's less hops (tracert can show you this)... not to mention
a lot of issues people have are client-side.
Distance certainly does have an impact... it's just that a sibling torrenting something will often have a bigger impact than the distance (a choked upstream is some of the worst lag).
... however, as a baseline only caring about distance
with no other factors, NA fares worse than KR multiple times over, especially for people like me on the east coast.

My Computer is like.... ancient.... i can barely play Mabinogi with it.
Graphics Card is 4 years old, i only have 4GB RAM and i don't even want to mention my processor xD
But i know people from America with a Computer able to run Minecraft without lags that complain that they have horrible lag on Mabi NA.
Either my Computer and connection really like Mabinogi or that specific Guy somehow broke his Mabinogi to lag that awfully.... XD

Heh, you might be surprised how much performance you can squeeze out of an older computer compared to a newer one if the older one is actually maintained and not sharing home internet with a hog, versus a new one being run by somebody that never watches background processes and leaves torrent clients running and junk.
Like, even a sibling watching Youtube in the other room can severely degrade the available bandwidth for other users, turning a great connection in theory into a mediocre one at that moment.

Is anyone aware if the new Celtic Crossbow is special upgrade-able?

So, yes.
Few notes for this patch:
-Throwing Attack still has horrible balance to be used seriously
-New minor bug with obtaining Sniper title: Thanks to addition of Urgent Shot, for those that didn't have Sniper title, now you have to rank Urgent Shot as well. When you do get every ranged skill to rank 1 including Urgent Shot, the game doesn't give you the title right away. You have to relog, or untrain the Urgent Shot skill once then rank it up again.
-
Seems to be new sort of combo cards, check it out! My favorite part is Act 1 x 4

Those combo card defy standard combo card logic.
They're not "quite" as strong as full 6-slot combo cards but they're way stronger than maxed out four slot cards.

In networking there's visible physical distance but also how many routers(hops) you need to pass through to get to your destination.
A real world example of shitty north american internet is one of my customers. If I try to traceroute my customer, who is about 20 minutes of travel from my office, I end up passing through toronto, new york, then all the way back in a loop to my customer.
This kind of situation is very common in north america, really bad, inefficient intra-continent routes.
People in europe might not lag anymore than a person on the east coast simply because people inside of north america might have more or equal hops than a person in europe.
It's really shitty.

Are either of the new Celtic crossbows egoable, and if they are does anyone have access to the stat table?
Thanks so much <3

They are not.
