I usually am able to fix a problem wit a computer perfectly fine myself but this time I am at a loss. I use a Lenovo laptop and my numerical keys stopped working except 5 and 6. My F keys which are also my Fn keys stopped working as well, just like the ESC key and the ; key. All my letters work except the G and the H.
I am using an onscreen keyboard to be able to type them at the moment. I don't understand how this happened. Yesterday I was able to use them and out of the blue they suddenly stopped working. I didn't spill anyting on my keyboard. Nor do the keys feel like they got dirt under them or anything of the sort. It is also a fairly new laptop so I doubt it can be dust/dirt to begin with.
I have tried to reinstall the driver for my keyboard. I have tried to do a full reboot by takin out the battery after I've turned my laptop off but the problem persists. I did a system restore but for some reason that didn't work out either. It told me my harddrive may be corrupt and to try a dskchk but those will take days like last time and I can't really be without a working computer since I also have work to do.
My Google searches didn't help me to find a fix, but I did learn that many people have been having the same problem: Fn and numerical keys not working along with the G and H key. It's really strange. I'd buy a new keyboard if I knew that would help... but for some people that helped and for some it didn't change anything so I am reluctant on spending money on something which may not even work.
Anyone familiar with this type of issue and has any suggestions on what I could try? I'd greatly appreciate it.
