hay guys!
what is the deep-sea fish considered? an item or a fish?
you use it in commercing so I thought it was an item, if it's an item could I use a better fishing rod for more deep-sea fish and thus more profit? :o

That's a hard one, I would guess item since it is a trade good and most trade goods are items. But then again I'm no expert so you or someone could conduct an experiment with fishing either favoring items or fish and get a rate to determine, but that's a lot of work :P

[FONT="Arial"]It stacks to 20 so it's an item.

Does that mean the Taitinn Carp and Smelt are items too?
I feel like this is a trick question because fish are items too

Logged the process of auto-fishing Brifne Carp (has a size, no stack) versus Taitinn Carp (no size, stacks) for comparison.
There's various differences of course, such as the call for using the prop_caught_fish_01 animation for the stackable and prop_caught_fish_02 for catching the non-stackable (and the sized fish having item drop scale info sent from the server), but I couldn't find any obvious flags for fish versus item.
Taitinn Carp counts for "catch a fish" and not "catch an item" for skill training, at least.
Pay attention to the animation for catching it, see if it looks like a fish or an item box?

This sparks a debate.. "is it a item or is it a fish?" :what:

According to the Mabinogi Wiki... Deep-sea fish is not included under the fish listing. It is, however, obtainable by fishing at the Beach of Scathach. On the fishing list, it is not listed under the "fish" section; rather, the deep-sea fish is listed under miscellaneous. Wiki would, therefore, have us believing the deep-sea fish is likely an item. I would agree with Rydian, "Pay attention to the animation for catching it, see if it looks like a fish or an item box?" I think this would be the ultimate way to define it as a fish or item; alternatively, if you miss the animation just see which section of skill training gets credit: catch a fish or catch an item.
(Granted fish are items, therefore of course they are items in regards to their use in the game. They certainly aren't props or pets)
