So since we have The Fattening as one of the daily event quests, I've noticed that a lot of people are mistaken on a lot of things dealing with in-game weight. 'Cause of this, I decided to keep an eye on my character's weight values in RAM to mark what actually changes what and how much.
This info is from yesterday, this was NOT done on Saturday (to avoid the 2x fullness from food daily effect). In addition these values are in floating-point, so they're slightly inaccurate and should be rounded.
- I did The Fattening quest when close to full hunger (so all the dishes added weight).
Ended up with the following weight values.
Weight: 1.700000048
Upper: 1.700000048
Lower: 1.435293913
Weight and Upper appear to have been maxed.
- I starved down to 93%, then drank Diet Potion F (to make sure it'd have the full effect).
After the next weight update (5-minute character tick), I was...
Weight: 0.6999999881
Upper: 1.700000048
Lower: 1.435293913
So Diet Potions reduce you to the minimum of 0.7, not the fresh-rebirth 1.0 values.
And Diet Potion F only reduces one weight value, not all three like people seem to think.
(F is for "fatness", not "full body".)
- Then I went to AFK in the Devil's Diet Hot Spring, I sat down at 5:53 PM IRL.
37 minutes later, there was no change.
Weight: 0.6999999881
Upper: 1.700000048
Lower: 1.435293913
This is because the Devil's Diet spring only affects 1 out of the 3 weight values, and it was already at minimum.
- I then sat down in the Quick Shrink Hot Spring at 6:31 PM. Only Upper changed, Weight and Lower did not change.
At 6:34 I was... Upper: 1.640000105
At 6:35 I was... Upper: 1.610000134
At 6:37 I was... Upper: 1.550000191
At 6:38 I was... Upper: 1.520000219
At 6:39 I was... Upper: 1.490000248
Finally it stopped reducing me when my Upper weight hit 1.0
Weight: 0.6999999881
Upper: 1
Lower: 1.435293913
So hot springs will reduce you to the normal 1.0 (not the minimum 0.7).
In addition, they work about twice as fast as the wiki previously listed... but only do Weight/Upper.
- In an attempt to reduce Upper and Lower further, I ate 10 Ripe Pumpkins and then waited for the next character tick.
Weight: 0.6999999881
Upper: 0.7352941036
Lower: 1.258823276
After that I was running around with friends and lost track of timing and data and junk, but what I did was enough to correct the wiki's Appearance page a bit.
Does anybody else have any more info or know of any specific tests? I'd like to see what the weight changes on the new foods like Ripe Pumpkin and such, but I'm not sure if like, the values on the wiki are hundredths places of change or what the exact unit for comparison is. Is anybody that's edited/added those numbers still around?

You always come up with very nice tests and a lot of wacky numbers that no one knows where they came from yet are able to understand. Always ripping the game apart to find information, such dedication too.
To answer your question about old numbers on the Wiki, I believe there used to be someone who would have been able to know about where those came from. Unfortunately, he eventually started using tools and methods which were against MWW's policy and he started being rude to other people after they pointed it out to him.
He got banned from MWW about a year ago, but he was working with them for an incredibly long time. He also used to host a Mabinogi Item Database which basically contained all the data on items in Mabinogi's files, converted to a format ready to be put on MWW at any time. He's also the one who caused equipment pages on MWW to be formatted the way they are now.
I used to help him out, too, with the legit stuff at least, I wouldn't get anywhere near all the questionable content he showed up with. His User Page was deleted along with his ba but a large part of his work is still around. I don't think there's any way to contact him right now.
There are probably more people involved with MWW who know how to get their hands on those numbers but it would probably be in your best interest to ask about it in one of the Talk Pages.
Hope you find someone who can help you out!
Am I to assume that it involved The-Tool-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named? There's methods that don't involve The-Tool-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named nowadays (methods that didn't exist before) so I've considered writing a guide on digging up data from the client with a few different methods, though I should probably ask a mod for one of them 'cause it'd involve naming something.
Turns out they're listed in the client's item database. >>; I just didn't check 'cause I assumed that if it was there somebody else would have grabbed it.
So... Ripe Pumpkins > Strawberries for weight loss. They hit all three values (which is rare) and are NPC items, too bad they're bigger.

Mushrooms/Hazelnut mushrooms have been my go-to for minimizing all.

So...
Ripe Pumpkins restore the same hunger.
Are +66% better for weight loss.
Are 25% as space efficient.

I just use transformation or level ups to cure hunger. Soooo lazy.

But that doesn't let you UnTheFattening.

The point of strawberries/pumpkins is that they don't fill up much hunger, the aim isn't to fill up your hunger.

Does eating while full make any difference? I don't have any numbers but I ate like 30 pumpkins today with my fullness around 100% and then just sat in the hot springs (only devil's diet, not the quick shrink) for a while. It took probably less than a half-hour for me to get pretty thin in all categories. I feel like eating when full adds to your weight, but not to your upper or lower unless the food you eat specifically increases upper or lower weight.

Eating while full will add to your weight, although there are some exceptions, such as corn tea.
-
Rydian wrote on 2015-03-30 05:42
The confusion is because "weight" has two different meanings.
In some cases it could mean "fatness in general", in other cases it means "the one of three fatness values named weight".
Eating while full gives the food's fatness.
Eating while hungry gives the food's thinness.
Still not sure what happens if the food you eat causes you to hit 100% as a result halfway.

Look at this monstrosity lol

I did the Fattening, ate like 50 pumpkins and the diet potion, and afked for a bit. Now I'm gonna go sit in the Quick Shrink.

Wish there was an easy, NPC, stackable food that was -2 -2 -2 (or more) to avoid crap like this.

I just do the fattening, wait for the tick that makes me obese, eat two stacks of ripe pumpkins to fix upper/lower, wait for that to kick in, then chug the diet potion to fix weight.
Works no matter what your hunger level is.
