Has anyone made a "price check" website?
Or know of one.
For example a site where players type in the price they paid for items, this way the community knows the low/high to buy and sell.
Its challenging for a noob like me to know the prices,
Is there a "real" market place or is it all mini shops in the town from players

Mini shops in the town, the housing board, and party ads.
Check Ch1 for the most shops and ads usually (housing board is cross-channel).
You can search housing of other servers here.

But housing stuff tends to be overpriced ('cause if it's cheap, it doesn't last long). Base your prices on the lowest there because if people were buying the higher ones they wouldn't still be there.

The housing board lists items that players have for sale in their player-owned home, which is a thing that needs service and takes multiple steps to get running.

A problem with market websites for any game is that the average prices can get screwed up very easily. People might pay very high or very low for an item during an event in the game, trolls might say they bought it for a retarded price, and of course prices naturally change over time for many items. If one day an item is worth 5 million, and the next week an event releases that floods the market with that item it may be worth 100k, but without enough data the website will show an inappropriate value for that item. So those kind of websites are completely useless for this particular function.

So the market is a pay only feature? i guess thats why everyone just opens a shop. Thank kinda saddens me, I recently played Tera and it seemed you could buy every cash item for in game money, i really like that f2p model, where you can Play 2 pay in a way

I haven't really noticed any real drawback to not having premium/housing on Mabi for my play style; with Belvast expanding upon the sale license (If you open a shop in Dunbarton, you can only sell as much as 2.2mil worth of goods; you can sell up to 22mil on one license in Belvast, though) I don't really see a point to having a house other than more storage space. So I don't think it's too bad, premium is honestly just perks/a few nice things that don't really hamper gameplay imo. I've played games that were MUCH more brutal about their cash shop features. Most things in Mabi's shop can be acquired through game play other than pets - though now we have medallions which can let you adopt someone else's pet, so that's an option now! ^ ^ There's not much you can't buy with gold in Mabi, one reason I love it so much.
On the topic of that price-checking site... I think that'd be a good idea but it could potentially be abused as Osayidan said. Perhaps a site that functions like people submit what they've paid for X or Y item, and there's more of a chart for it than an average price. Or maybe some kind soul who pokes around in the shops a lot could submit going prices for things from what they notice. ^ ^ Depending on your server, I might be able to answer some questions you have. I'm in Tarlach and prices can be really tricky and situational here.
