Selection as in like when you use a Sealing Scroll, it shows up in that menu.

Are you certain it's not in a closed bag somewhere? A screenshot of the problem would be nice too.
As for missing items, I've never actually seen it before other than back when Partner Hair was edible, and feeding that would black robe you. So I'd be careful with things you can't see!

You were right. The bag tab was behind another tab. I scared myself for like 6 hours due to this. D:
