Is there a "best" race?

While playing, all i am seeing is humans.
I made an elf but i have a feeling this may not be the right choice.

After reading the forums here it would seem people think humans are the best while the other two are weaker... why is this?

Why are majority of people human?

Elves are pretty gimped compared to the other races. They have the fastest running speed and the highest potential DPS via archery but neither of those are even remotely important nowadays.

Humans and Giants are about equal.

Majority players play human because:
-It's the first character you can play back in the day
-More talents, more versatility

Elves aren't necessarily weak (nor giants aren't overpowered) because reforges can closen that "stat" or "skill" gaps.

Not really.

Reforges can't give Elves access to lances, the fanatic greatsword, or allow them to dual-wield. At best they're slightly worse than the other two races at everything sans archery and Humans are arguably better at that. They're definitely far worse when it comes to melee.

I picked Giants, While i do hate the fact that i cant duel wield swords.i do love the fact that i dont like like a 12 year old in game.

Ultimatly pick what race you like the best, this game is easy regardless. Min/max gaming is not necessary.

If you want the most versatility in both combat and fashion, pick humans

If you know your going to be Melee and never use a bow, pick giants

If you like elves, stay an elf.

Humans have the most access to all kinds of skills. At least, all the updates will benefit humans since they are the most played. By playing human, you know for sure you aren't missing out on anything.

Example:
If you played Giant = Range update(s) does nothing
if you played Elf = Melee update like FH does nothing.

Talent/Skillwise, both elves/giants have disadvantages. But elf being "slightly worse than other two races" -I think it's more of your personal bias that is purely based on "damage". You really can't say which race is better or worse just on dps.

Anyways just to sum up my views for each race:

I'm sorry, I cannot agree with this. I'm not gonna say Elf is the "best" race, but they still have their own benefits, namely their movement speed and potential DPS with magnum, which is totally possible with good enough connection. Elves are undoubtedly the better rangers, even if it's a really small margin.

In fact, if I were to choose gunner, I might even choose Elf because of their mobility, and you can do range/gunner really nicely with Elf too.

To answer the OP, right now humans are looking really bright, as they have the access to almost everything, as well as the renovation in general favoring humans.

I already mentioned what Elves do.

As for Giants, they have a really good early stages of the game because of how fast Giant melee grows and Vales shield that negates anything to 1 damage when using defense. But other than that, they suffer from the lack of longer range combat, aka bows, but some of that disadvantage is filled by Ninja or Gunner, which they definitely don't fall behind in. In fact, I'd say they excel at them.

Just play what you want. Anything will be viable as long as you're able to do damage.

Anyone can be with high stats. So yes, Giants can be "good" at puppetry, but Humans and Elves will still do better because of how much dex Giants miss.

I asked around in game and around the forums.
From what i gathered.... Humans are the "master" race.
This is mainly because the game was originally designed with them as the only race. I noticed that doorways and dungeon tunnels can get annoying because the camera clips into the walls when your very tall.
While i really do love the way my giant looks physically... i don't like not having access to duel wielding blades.
Someone above mentioned how humans gain the most from each renovation since they are not limited to what skills they can use.

I am thinking about switching to human....

There are certain advantages and disadvantages of certain races. Elves are typically archers or mages, since they receive boosts in those talents. humans are flexible, allowing practically any talent. Giants are best with lance or melee, and sometimes pick up puppetry or other skills. They lack the archery talent, but elves even out by being unable to use lances.
