Was training Bash and noticed the durability on my swords going down a lot faster than usual. Checked the wiki talk page and somebody else noticed the same thing, so I started reading the values out of the client's RAM to see and compare the changes.

Normal melee attacks will do ~0.001 to 0.015 durability loss. Bash does 0.015 durability loss on all hits. So on average Bash will do ~2x more durability damage to your weapons. Bash also causes durability loss on both weapons when dual-wielding even though it only shows one hitting.
My best guess is that most attacks have a function like dura_use(15) that will cause durability loss up to the specified amount, but whoever coded Bash accidentally used a similar function, say dura_loss(15) which causes loss at the specified amount instead of up-to.

Would the durability loss be reduced if dual wielding celtic royal knight swords?

What... Bash can splash? ?_?
Quote from Wiki Edit:
It's unclear if this is intended or a bug.
Given that CRKS has dura reduction, it's likely intended. Let's not forget that KR's been throwing bug fixes all around since Renovation, so if it were bugged they would have already fixed it by then.

Either way it's still going to use the maximum durability value.

Well then
good thing I failed 48 floors a few times. Never thought I'd say that

Whoops, that was a note I meant to stick in a different document when formatting it for posting.
That said, it'd be interesting to see if this happens in KR as well. We have a reported issue with Rage Impact not working properly, whatever that means, right now so maybe this is a little weird too.

Yeah I figured they do something with your durability, my weapons had to be repaired numerous times while mastering it, ugh.
Also, not sure if you can check this, but I found that when killing things with Bash it feels like drop rates for items are absolutely terrible.
7 channels full of ancients in Scathach beach dropped nada as well as several runs of Fiodh without finding any fireball pages at all, everything was taken down with smash.
Could just me having terrible luck lately but just thought I'd make sure.
The durability loss kinda makes sense though, I mean you're literally brute forcing your weapons onto enemies, wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional.

I would also not be surprised that it's intentional given the power of this skill.

Yeah, could be intentional. After all it has to have some form of drawback, right?

By any chance this also applies to Rage Impact?

Looks like Rage Impact doesn't use item durability.

Huh, that would mean it wouldn't affect proficiency either.

Yup, no prof gain from Rage Impact.

That memory read is a nice feature.
Can you use that to test out how the set effect for dura loss reduction works on RCK Sword once you get a pair? We don't have a value for that yet. Also interested to see how it stacks with HW and VIP.
Wiki claims HW is 50% reduction, and VIP is *additive* 25%, for 75% total reduction. Not sure if that's true, or it's multiplicitive 50% (if you could test unblessed on mule account vs VIP account to see if it's only 25% or not) If RCK set is even 10%, but additive, that's a 40% bonus for VIP users.
Thanks in advance!

Killed 4 Ancient White Spiders near Emain yesterday with Bash, got a Topaz and a.... uhm Ancient Magic Powder.
Guess it's just you having terrible luck.
