Life skill exp reforges

  Hello,
  I'm considering obtaining a few tools to help rank life skills if I can. I'm wondering how hard it is to reforge tools for life skill exp and whether it's better to do that or to just buy the tools already forged. Also, do you folks recommend any life skills tools that are especially helpful with a reforge or non-exp life skill reforges worth noticing?

If you're okay with a weaker rank-3 boost, is it possible to get an exp reforge just from using an NPC Reforging Tool? And then you can just keep going for better with Fine or Credne Reforging Tools, if you're willing to pay? Are these NX reforging tools easy to buy from players?
  
  Take the blacksmith hammer, for example. Blacksmithing's a tough skill to rank and clearly would benefit from reforges. The hammer appears to have only two possible reforge outcomes: blacksmithing success rate and blacksmithing exp (and maybe sometimes you'd get neither and it would be blank). This low number of outcomes would mean that a reforge is likely to result in what you want, right? Do you think it would take a large number of reforges to get a life skill tool that was really good?

  Considering how expensive a Blacksmith Hammer with Blacksmith EXP Level 10+ can be... (You have to take into account that the equipment needs to be ranked up first before you can get the higher reforge level.) No, I think it'd be a gamble, and probably better to just borrow/buy it from someone else.
  
  Handicraft Kit with EXP reforge is handy, too. :3 It doesn't take too many reforges to get EXP 2... I've never gotten past that, but it's taken me to rank 8 Handicraft.
  
  It's possible to get a reforge you'd like straight off of the normal reforging tool. I'm seeing Fines being sold at 350k~400k and Crednes at 700k~800k on Alexina right now. I think it might actually be slightly cheaper on the other servers (250k per Fine?). If you're willing to spend NX on reforges, you should wait for a sale to come out.

  The probability of getting rank 1 is ridiculous. It's just all RNG. Here are some personal examples:
  
  One of my best reforging experiences: Decided to throw 4 fine reforges from the treasure event onto a r3 item just for laughs. It got to r2 then r1 consecutively.
  
  One of my worst reforging experiences: My lance and old bow (now blown up rip) both consumed 150+ reforges. Managed to get a double elemental equivalent to lv 6, but they never went to rank 1.
  
  So, you could only use a few reforges and get something awesome, or you could use so many it's not even worth it at that point. Definitely should just stick with using the free reforges to get a lv 2 exp reforge, unless you're willing and prepared to dish out a lot of money.

  I've gotten around 20 items to 2 Rank / 1 Rank.
  
  Statistically, it takes an average of 80 reforges to bring an item to 1 Rank from 3 Rank.
  
  3 > 2 = 7.5%
  2 > 1 = 1.5%
  
  None of the life skill reforges are rare (I own four of them) but it might take a bunch of reforges to get a decent roll. I would anticipate using around 70~120 reforges.

  If I were you, I wouldn't bother with fines.
  
  For most life skills (and prod alch), get a level 2 EXP tool and just use that. To get a level 2 tool, just buy a bunch of clean tools, buy a bunch of NPC reforging tools, and keep using them until one pops up level 2 EXP. If you're lucky, you will see it in 10-20 tries, but it is RNG, after all.
  
  And no, there are not only 2 options. There are tons of generic reforges that will pop up along the way.
  
  
  Having even a small level 2 reforge helps a TON with life skills. It increases the total EXP earned by doing the easy set of requirements, drastically reducing or eliminating the number of harder ones you need to do. The overall effect makes it way more than just 20% easier.
  
  Aside from tools, other noteable reforges that people may desire:
  Hats (headband cheapest): windmill and herbalism (and summon golem but that's not especially tough)
  Gloves (bracelet cheapest): Refining, Synth, Frag, Metal conversion
  
  Silk Weaving gloves (tailored): Weaving
  This one is important. Once you get the reforge, you need to remember to only equip it for non-silk requirements. The gloves don't lose durability if you wear them on non-silk, but will lose a point per attempt if you ever do actual silk with them. This means rank 9 or whatever it is with only silk as a requirement has to be done without them, but otherwise they help a ton with the training.

  Thank you, guys, you covered many aspects of reforging and it was helpful. The nice thing about many life skill tools is that they are low-cost so that is a good thing for getting one with a basic NPC exp reforge. As a few of you said, I'm sure I'll be happy starting with some level 2 EXP tools. As far as that goes, I think I'll go for it or at least give making them a try. I wasn't aware before that there are NX reforge tool sales, so that's good to know. I also didn't know how hard it is to go up in reforge rank on an item!
