Dual-Booting SteamOS & Windows

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. So, I'm planning on installing SteamOS, but I noticed that there's no way to install it (no option to partition my drive with it) without it wanting to delete EVERYTHING on my laptop.

Is there a way to dual-boot it? I saw articles about it on a quick google search, but I wanted a few more opinions from anybody's who's tried or what.

Have you tried creating a partition and installing SteamOS on that?
Honestly SteamOS is a waste of space if you're already using Windows. Really no reason to get it since it doesn't add anything you can't do on windows, and if you're not experienced with using Linux OSes just avoid it.
