  If the prosecution has a good enough lawyer. This could easily be construed as attempted murder by police. What would have happened if the swat team busted in and the person was holding something and they shot them thinking it was a gun? I think it was last year some kid got shot for answering the door with a remote in his hand?

  Not sure what kind of punishment is appropriate for something like this, but I sure hope that he at least has to pay the cost of sending out the SWAT team ($30,000 USD ?) and maybe some kind of fine on top of that. There's no reason for American taxpayers to pay for this guy's idiocy, at least.

  Let's look at the basics. Several women were harassed by male gamers with sexist remarks, classic slut shaming, etc, concerning matters of sex portrayal in video games and within the video game industry. Jack Thompson doesn't even compare to the level of harassment these women faced.

  Just to reiterate, my claim is that gamergate was a misogynistic backlash.
  
  Back on topic, you're acting as if he is irredeemable. I mean, life in prison? The death penalty? Whatever happened to mercy and second chances? Just to put this into perspective, the woman besides the Sylvia Likens Murder was given parole or something. Mary Bell, a child murderer, became a mother herself. Both these women were obviously more messed up than this kid and they didn't receive the death penalty.

  that would just waste more tax dollars and be really unfair to his parents that probably didn't even know he was doing this shit in the first place (i really hope they sold all his electronics to help pay for what ever charges they will have to pay off because of their son's stupidity)

  Is there a gamergate thread here? Anyways, a lot of shitty game journalists banded together to collude what click bait articles to copy paste. This was all revealed during the entire 10 months of people yelling on the internet, while anons kept digging and digging. Most of the info of corruption have been collected neatly in an easy to use site deep freeze. These "hip" hipster journalists are bigger jerks than people thought, since they act out angrily with the most acidic vitriol ever slung.
  
  Many places on the internet, like 4chan, censored all talks of gamergate. It was really important that based hotwheels was there to give gamers a space for their discussion. It was very strange that so many places and news kept censoring and spreading lies what gamergate is. At least the gamers made successful email campaigns took down ads from offending corrupted press outlets.
  
  The SJWs tried to make people think that gamergate was a sexist movement. It worked somewhat since people like Bliss claims gamergate is a sexist harassment movement, while getting questionable people like Zoe Quinn, Anita, and Briana Wu into the news and talks everywhere like an oppression olympics. Btw, these people make fake accounts to use to harass themselves. The downside, to the SJWs, is that more and more people hate them more than before.
  
  Other things: People actually trusted lizard squad with their emails when purchasing their services. Vivian James is best OC. Stop censoring muh sexy games. Feminists should make their own games instead of ruining existing ones. Game journalists are corrupt and are just PR that distracts gamers from the big problems in the game industry. There's money to be made by censoring games. Gamers are the most dangerous force that protect free speech.

  Harassing women doesn't make you sexist, though? If you harassed them because "women are put on this world to please you", then yes, you are sexist. But harassing someone because they rejected you has nothing to do with sexism and more to do with you being immature and mentally unstable. In fact, I've had this happened to me and didn't even think about how they're some sexist pig. ESPECIALLY since I guarantee that if they do this to girls, they're doing this to guys too. (THIS IS LIZARD SQUAD AFTERALL?)
