So far ive mastered Mage Warrior and Knight and im trying to decide where to go next talent wise and was wondering if alchemy was worth the massive amounts of effort that is required?
I mean i have seen alchemist put out a lot of damage so im trying to decide if its honestly worth the work.:beg:

"A lot of damage" is a really subjective term, and the chance is, the number probably isn't really any impressive in my eyes.
While alchemy really doesn't need massive amount, it also won't give you the best damage either. What alchemy offers really nicely, and through only few skills, is the utility.
Here are the only reasons I would get into alchemy:
Hydra
Shock for Master title (Really nice if you can get to 1.5k stats with catering)
Raincasting
Enchant requirement for some enchants (seething, crocodile, etc)
Other than that, it's not worth, especially as your main skills.

Ill believe you on that then but if not alchemy where would be a good place to start next?

Lance and Ninja would be the best, since it'd give shit ton of STR that you'll probably need.

If you're looking for strength, Dischord is a pretty cheap way to get it. No need to fully bard-out, just the one skill. Musical knowledge and composing are also insanely cheap int since you mentioned mage (lol I almost listed these below in the life section. I'm old).
You might also want to start some life stuff. Carpentry and mining for str. Herbalism, potions, wine, and mushrooms for int. Weaving, refining, handicraft, and most other life stuff for dex, depending how far you can get in each. (first aid, sheep, and eggs are probably quickest grind-wise). Hoe and harvest for will (helps ninja), and the 3 treasure hunter skills for luck and some will. The newer "gathering mastery" skills are all really fast to rank. It's the good old production that's going to hang you up.

I personally view alchemy as a support skillset now, if that means anything.

Don't want to use potions for health? Get Life Drain.

If you want Alchemy to actually do decent damage, the only skills that will accomplish this really are Water Cannon and Flame Burst, of which you'll need good gear and stats for both. (HP for Flame Burst, MP for Water Cannon) Hydra also does decent damage, and that relies on Stamina.
The rest of the alchemy tree is utility, which the utility can be very nice (enhanced frozen blast, life drain, shock, rain casting). So, to sum up, you'll be using either Water Cannon or Flame Burst for damage, Water Cannon being better for single-target, and Flame Burst being much better for AoE, assuming you can get them grouped up for it to hit multiple targets. And then the rest of your kit will be utility, if that sounds appealing, then give it a shot.

Alchemy is really only worth it if you want to put in the time to enchant everything with flame enchants or something similar. I am a wise battle alchemist and without many enchants and just flamerider gear, I hit 1500 crit flame and 500 normal. The other skills that come with alchemy are very useful, though. Like hydra is probably one of the most OP skills in the game. I'd recommend you try it, but you have to put in a lot of time to mastering and enchanting. Alchemy mastery isn't much fun to do.
