Minecraft is a bit older now; interest is probably low but i'll go ahead and advertise here anyway.
I've been working on an adventure map, off and on, for the last couple of years. I originally started on the Xbox 360 version (where I completed roughly 80% of the base game world) and had it ported over to the PC version a few months ago.
The entire map is made for vanilla Minecraft (no mods) but with the John Smith Legacy resource pack.
A quick break-down of current features:
- Five fully-fledged dungeons with numerous puzzles/traps (heavily puzzle oriented)
- Five custom boss fights, with scripted events
- Six towns with custom NPCs (unfortunately, only like three of them have dialogue of any sort)
- Various sub-dungeons, all over the place
- Three battles arenas, where you face off against multiple waves of enemies
If anyone's interested, let me know and i'll find a way to upload the map.

Seems very interesting, you can make a download link using mediafire.

There you go. It's been compressed using 7zip. Let me know if you have any issues.
Gamerules should automatically update. The only thing you should have to do is switch it to adventure mode.

If you have any issues or need directions, let me know. Your objective is essentially to collect all of the end-portal frames from each temple and ender eyes from various optional areas.
My next objective is to complete what's left of the fifth temple, start the sixth temple, and add story-scenes that give background information on your quest. Those will unfortunately take me quite a lot of time to implement.

Oh darn, you got Dragnoz to help you out? or you just watched his videos?
I love that guy.
Also, is this for the latest version?

The map has been updated for 1.8.7. The whole thing started on a flat map on the Xbox 360 version, so it's been built up by hand (yeah, ouch).
Vendors in each town sell goods which will help you during your run. I recommend picking up a sword (and preferably upgrading it) before taking on the forest temple.
The final leg of accessing the fifth temple is currently in progress. Essentially, there's a hidden area under Helios that'll warp you there.

Downloaded and map and my default gamemode was creative, and can't change to survival/adventure.

Have you tried toggling "Open to LAN" and adjusting the game mode?
/gamemode 2
If that doesn't work, let me know and i'll toggle it and re-upload.
