I am confused... what should I focus first? Story or getting the skillz? What equipment, as a new player, should I aim for and what skill set?
This is a thread to see what advice would you give to someone completely new to Erinn.

What the mother fockery is this?
[SPOILER="(advice snip)"]Focus on doing Generation 1 First as it gives AP and it's tied to your Tutorial in a way anyays,
First skill to focus on for any Skillset is Windmill except maybe Puppetry which is however not a recommended Starting Skillset. Start with either Warrior, Mage or Archer to get a feel for the Game, if you want you can co Fighter or Alchemist but those suffer own Problems. Fighter is incredibly Strong but very hard to use once you get to the Multi-Aggro Mobs, Alchemy starts Strong but in Lategame needs lots of HP/MP/SP and Enchants to back it up. //Note: Alchemy scales off of HP/MP/SP pools instead of core INT/STR/DEX damage stats, but has good utility skills. Do not start with Puppetry, Bard or Gunslinger. Ninja is viable but also better to be keept for later. These Skillsets are something for later game as Bard is mostly Support as the only skills are playing Instruments and Buffing/Debuffing with a single Attack Skill, Puppetry, Gunslinger and Ninja are a lot Stronger once you have the Stats to back it up, Gunslinger especially is weak without having assets of STR and INT ready.
I recommend doing Skills and Story alongside each other as you'll need the Storyline for some Skills anyways and most of them give some Easy EXP and AP.
Do not bother too much for Gear at the start, work it up slowly as the good stuff costs some Gold. You get an Armor from G1 you can pretty much Use till you have the Money to buy a better one and for Weapons there's always some Event giving out some nice weapons once in a while.

Okay I can't take this seriousness anymore xD

To the new player,
^This, pretty much. Rank windmill if you EVER intend to do melee (it's hard to train later on). Do generation quests and both Sagas--they give a ton of AP, decent starter gear, and unlock Transformation/Demigod skills. Melee is VERY strong right now (due to Bash and, if you're a Human, Final Hit) and fairly cheap to start. Magic also does some insane damage (with Lightning Rod especially) but is very costly in AP.
Some extra tips, though:
1. If you start as melee, keep your balance capped at 80%. High balance makes your attacks much more consistent damage-wise and you won't have to worry about your minimum attack ever again if you keep it capped. (This isn't an issue for Archers, since balance scales from DEX, or Mages, since magic balance scales from INT, but as a STR-based melee character balance can be a hurdle at first.)
2. If you start with Magic, get into commercing. Buy Fomor Wands with your ducats (commerce currency) until you get a feel for making gold (standard currency) in the game, because they are MUCH cheaper to manage than the usual gear. The base maintenance cost of wands, staves, and MP pots is a lot higher in magic than it is for other classes until you get an Engineer's enchant (-50% repair cost), which can be a bit much for new players.
3. Pick a class and stick to it after level 1,000. Mabinogi will eventually let you master all available skills on a single character, but the game discourages spreading ability points thinly across many skillsets too early ([s]RIP progression speed[/s]). Therefore, you should definitely reset your skills often at Duncan as a new player in order to explore which weapons suit your play style the best, but when you're ready to really start progressing through the game after level 999, you should focus on only ranking one skillset at a time. Each "class" takes roughly 3,000 levels to master, so it's better to treat Mabinogi like a traditional class-based MMO until you have at least one good skillset under your belt. Of course, do pick up useful [s]or OP meta[/s] skills that compliment your main class, but be frugal at first and try to keep that to a minimum.
4. Keep reading Mabination. These forums keep track of what's new, what's meta, what's outdated, and a bunch of other things/tips that are just USEFUL. Also, the community's great at answering questions and providing in-game support.
Good luck!
